Warning - in red light district!!!
Advantages: good breakfast, handy location Disadvantages: red light district, hotel split into 2 buildings
...a triple room. Hotel Berna fitted our requirements but it wasn't anything special.
We arrived late to the hotel due to flight delays and were a bit worried about the neighbourhood while driving through it. The following afternoon our fears were confirmed when we discovered it was in the red light district of Milan (during daylight hours too!!). I definitely wouldn't recommend the area for families with young children, or single travellers who might ... ...2 other girls, i felt safe enough, but we didn't venture out at night on our own.
The hotel is split into 2 buildings and unfortunately we were in the building over the road from reception which meant we had to walk over for breakfast. The breakfast room was small, but just about big enough and the food good.
Despite being in a less "nice" area, the location was handy in terms of walking distance from the central shopping area, cathedral etc- think ...

Location, Service, Location....the great trio
Advantages: Next to subway, In a great shopping street Disadvantages: Not english breakfast
...which takes you to the grand central station. From there it is a simple matter of using the underground to get to the stop right next to the hotel which lies on the red line at the stop named 'Lima'. You will have to hop onto the green line to 'Loreto' to switch to the red line. You'll get the picture when you're in front of the rail maps, its quite straightforward as long you keep the ends of the line in mind.
Alternatively you may opt for taxi ... ...go to other cities the grand central station is a useful landmark to know how to get to. Once you get the underground in your system you'll be amazed how fast you can get to anywhere.
As for the hotel itself, the rooms are quite comfortable with available broadband as well as Internet on Tv. The television actually comes with its own keyboard. Bathroom facilities are also more than adequate, furnished even with a 'bede'. The morning breakfast leaves ...

Ibis Milan
Advantages: Great location Disadvantages: poor service and food in the restaurant
My partner and i went to milan to watch AC Milan for his xmas present. I booked to stop at the ibis. we stayed for 4 nights and i have to admit it was worth every penny.
I think we paid about £40 per night, the hotel was clean and the bar was nice. it was in a excellent location to get around milan. the hotel was walking distance from the train station.
The down side to this was the restaurant in the hotel, i was quite expensive and very poor quality. ... ...was all i got, i didnt realise that you had to order and pay for side orders seperate. They were about £4. This ends up being quite expensive, but other than that it was a great little hotel. There were some nice places to dine near the hotel and a nice bar across the road.
Deffiently stop here again, should we visit milan ...

WAKE ME AMADEUS
Advantages: Clean, Comfortable, Location Disadvantages: My Ears!
As 2008 drew to a close I was lucky enough to be given the opportunity to pay a flying visit to Milan, the purpose of which was twofold - to soak up some culture in the fine city, and also take in a football match at the famous Stadio San Siro. Because the trip was part of a package we were unable to specify flight companies or hotels of our own accord, instead relying on the powers that be that put these all inclusive city breaks together. So it ... ...airport to the hotel Amadeus in the fashionable shopping district of Milan, a clean looking three star hotel, boasting eighty rooms. Location, Location, Location Little doubt that the location of the Amadeus is one of its strengths. Although it is a good hour’s drive from Malpensa airport it is – quite literally – a stone’s throw from the Stazione Centrale. Widely slated as one of the main - and most architecturally stunning - train stations ...

A budget base for exploring Milan
Advantages: cheaper than many in the area, clean, comfortable, easy access to sights Disadvantages: bathroom not great, no restaurant
Named the 10th most expensive city in the world in terms of cost of living (Mercer's Cost of Living Survey, 2008), Milan isn't generally a city you'd associate with budget hotels. However, that was exactly what I was in search of when travelling to the city for a 3-night stay in October 2008. Knowing that a large proportion of my money would be spent on shopping and eating out, I was on the hunt for accommodation that was cheap, central and comfortable.
... ...in the centre of the city - anything in the Duomo (cathedral) or main shopping areas tends to be more pricey, or cheap for a good reason (i.e., incredibly basic). We were happy to look a little further out, and eventually decided to book a twin room at Hotel Teco through laterooms.com.
LOCATION
Hotel Teco is located on a tiny road called Via Spallanzani, just off the Corso Buenos Aires - one of the city's many shopping areas. Although not as central ...
