Advantages Advantages AMAZING STRUCTURE, GREAT CONCERT VENUE!

Disadvantages Disadvantages CAN BE A BIT CHAOTIC IF THERE ARE TRANSPORT PROBLEMS

A little background ******************** Originally built to house the Millennium Exhibition (which ran from 1st January 2000 to 31st December 2000), this massive marquee-like structure is the biggest of its kind in the world. Its highest point is 52 metres (one for each week of the year) and has twelve supports (one for each month). When looking down on it has a diameter of 365 metres (one for each day), and the canopy is made of a glass fibre material. Situated on the Greenwich peninsular (that horse-shoe looking part of the Thames you see at the beginning of Eastenders), this structure ... more

Advantages Advantages Great day out, loads to see and do

Disadvantages Disadvantages Expensive entry fee, its closed now

Well the dome has closed... for the better or the worse is the question being asked. Well I went to the dome in its final days for the first (and last) time and I can honestly say that overall I think that it was a great day out and I am glad that I went. For the last few years there has been constant press coverage on the dome, that was being run into the ground before they had even finished clearing the site to build it. I think the main problem with the dome is that it has had too much bad publicity, meaning that people are simply put off going. Any other attraction containing the same ... more

Advantages Advantages None that I can see

Disadvantages Disadvantages Too expensive, money better spent elsewhere, people dying on waiting lists, cut backs on prescribed drugs

What a load of poop! Since it's concept was created it has been headed for failure. I mean yeah the structure is cool and quite a feat but why did they have to fill it full of crap! The amount of money that has been ploughed into the Dome could have been much better spent. There are hospital wards closing and people dying because of lack of funding on the NHS and those twats we voted in to run this country are just paying money into projects to make other twats richer. And what is going to happen when they finally close the dome?!?!?!?!?!... Someone will buy it and actually start making a good ... more

Advantages Advantages Could be put to good use

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Never worked

I have never been to it and have never even seen it for real, but this monstrosity and waste of money was closed at the end of last year! I have read opinions about it and seen clips of the inside on TV, and I still had no desire to visit it. It is surrounded by controversy, and we all complain about money being used on it but why waste it? In the light of the Olympic games and the great achievements by British athletes, why not give the dome to the Athletic Association? Apparently, it is big enough to house a few football pitches, so there would be plenty of room to build an indoor athletics ... more

Advantages Advantages The content was superb, especially the show.

Disadvantages Disadvantages Prices of tickets, food and merchandise.

Everyone in Britain was talking about it: the government ministers, the people, but most importantly the Press. They had a field day, but was it as bad as they portrayed? Well, the admission price for a start was extortionate. The cost - nearly fifty pounds for a family. Incorporate that with the cost of travelling down to London and that soon becomes quite a large sum of money. The government put it on a peninsula in the south-east of England, telling Britain that it was easy to access. By the Tube maybe, but for those in the North of England and Scotland - a 3-6 hour journey had to be made ... more
