Well the dome has closed... for the better or the worse is the question being asked. Well I went to the dome in its final days for the first (and last) time and I can honestly say that overall I think that it was a great day out and I am glad that I went.

For the last few years there has been constant press coverage on the dome, that was being run into the ground before they had even finished clearing the site to build it.

I think the main problem with the dome is that it has had too much bad publicity, meaning that people are simply put off going. Any other attraction containing the same number of exhibits and attractions would be praised. However to be fair I do agree that far too much public money has been put into it.

Its not until you are actually standing next to the dome that you realise the true size of it and when you are inside it appears even bigger. It has been build with conservation and recycling in mind with every detail paid attention to. An example being the rain water from the roof is collected and used to water plants and for cleaning.

The attractions inside are varied, ranging from the 'Body Zone' (which is the most popular according to officials to the 'Journey' zone that I thought was the best. Each attraction, with its own theme is sponsored by one or two companies and because of this each of them is unique.

The staff at the dome were very helpful and friendly when I went there and I don't think they have been praised enough. They have spent the last 12 months working for a company that has been moaed about everyday in the press and reading that their work is a failure and they still manage to walk around smiling, happy and pleased to be there and helping people.

I just hope the dome is put to good use when its new owners take over. You certainly missed out if you didn't go.
