I am sure, up until the day he died, my husband wondered how he managed to convince me that Pattaya would be a great destination for a family holiday. However, he did manage it and more to the point, our visit was a memorable one. Whilst I cannot say I have any desire to ever go back, I am glad I have seen one of Thailand?s main beach resorts which is the antithesis to more traditional destinations such as Koh Samui or Hua Hin.
Pattaya is often known as ?Bangkok on Sea?, and the town itself is situated just over 100 miles from Bangkok, or about a 90 minute drive away.

Myself and my boyfriend visited Bangkok Zoo in October 2007.
Getting there
Bangkok Zoo is easily accessible by public transport. There are bus routes that run directly there or you can get a tuk tuk which is the option we chose. We paid £4 for a return journey to the zoo from our hotel.
Admission Prices
We paid £3.50 each for admission to the zoo which we thought was very reasonable as the zoo is quite large.
Bangkok Zoo
Bangkok Zoo covers 35.2 acres of land and 12 acres of water. It holds nearly 300 mammals, over a thousand birds and nearly 300 reptiles.
We found the zoo to be spacious and relaxing. There is a large lake in the middle of the zoo, and several picnic areas dotted around. Sections of the zoo are joined by bridges which lead you over the lake.

Enjoying sweeping views of the city, the extremely modern Hilton Bangkok is located along the Chao Phraya River and is easily accessible with its free shuttle boats.Overlooking the scenic river, Hilton Bangkok is a very contemporary hotel that comes with its own private pier. From the pier, guests can board free shuttle boats to Saphan Taksin BTS Sky Train Station and the River City Shopping Centre. Attractions like the Reclining Buddha are also nearby.Besides modern rooms with panoramic city and river views, Hilton Bangkok also comes with a host of excellent facilities. Guests can choose to simply relax with luxurious spa treatments or get fit in the modern fitness centre equipped with personal LCD screens. In addition, guests can even choose from weekly yoga, pilates and aeroboxing lessons.Offering Bangkoks only beach high above the city is the stylish infinity pool lined with fine, white sand.
