Advantages: Beautiful Island Disadvantages: Hotel? Says who? I wonder where they got the stars!
...Well, are you planning to go to Mauritius? Read this first, it might change your mind. The Illes Maurice (Mauritius) are a beautiful place to visit, you will see your good share of tropical rainforest (which now covers only 1% of the main island), white sands, coral (alive and dead), speed boats and… loads of tourists! It’s not as packed as Ibiza or the Algarve would be, it can be fairly quiet at times (April-June) but make sure you choose the right accommodation. Don’t be tricked by brochures. The Silver Beach Hotel on the east coast of Mauritius is a 3 star (the third star is your good will) hotel. I was there in April 2000 on an all-inclusive family package holiday. I got this deal with British Airways Holidays, a reminder that the good names in the travel agency market mean absolutely nothing as we enter the new millennium...

Advantages: Fantastic hotel all round! Disadvantages: Reception were slightly under staffed
...I booked this hotel through a well known website and I decided to increase my budget compared to hotels I'd stayed in earlier in the week.
I still only paid approximately £100 per night and this proved well worth it.
The conceirage greeted up and made us feel very welcome.
At the check in desk the staff weren't the most helpful, but I think this was mainly due to a large amount of people checking in at the same time.
The lobby area of the hotel is fantastic, with a lovely seating area.
We were escorted to our room by a very kind member of staff. The room was very nice, a lovely view over New York and over the river. Bathroom was very nice and the bed was really big. The room was extremely clean.
We didnt get to try out the restaurant downstairs as it was a little bit too expensive for us. So we ordered in a chinese from a local...

...The Radisson SAS Bay Point is a relatively new, 5* hotel in St Julian’s on the north coast of Malta, having been built around the turn of the millennium. The hotel is a 20 minute drive from Luq’a airport and 15 minutes from the centre of Valletta. I was here for work, for a conference organised by the governing party of Malta, who clearly pulled out all the stops, so it is conceivable, although I guess unlikely, that the overwhelmingly favourable impression I have received of this hotel may not be an accurate picture of the hotel. With that disclaimer, I will set out what I have seen.
WHAT THERE IS IN THE HOTEL
The entrance level is on level 2 of the hotel, with the reception desk on the right. On the left is a coffee bar (the Bridge Bar) with leather armchairs and sofas around coffee tables, while ahead of you is another bar...
