Although not the hotels fault, our cab took us to the wrong 'Millenium hotel'!Make sure you state that its the UN Plaza Millenium hotel!!! On our arrival at the hotel, the very helpful doorman(Who was great through out our stay.)took our bags and escorted us inside, the signing in was hassle free and the reception staff were friendly and helpful. We were there in May and at this time a standard double room cost $260,a superior double(which has a kitchenette)$290 and a superior plus(with better views $340,so great value for money! We were escorted up to our room, where the bellboy introduced us to the wonder that is Manhattan,by turning the lights out ,as it was night time, and showing us the view,I would recommend corner rooms as we looked right across the empire state and chrysler buildings on one side and right down the river on the other, amazing!! The room was very spacious and the decor was very modern. We had a huge comfy bed,a sofa, desk and chair,TV,Open wardrobe,Safe, snacks(which are expensive!),but you will not find tea and coffee facilities,it isn't really the american way.Oh,we could've done with a good cuppa some nights after a long day tramping Manhattan!! The bathroom had a shower over a bath, full length mirrors and although no window ,was nice and light and bright. We found the hotel to be very clean through out, from our room to the Restaurant, bar and Health facilitys. There was plenty of info.on the city in the lobby or from the staff, the shop was good for souvenirs and sweets, but no use,if you needed something more. The bar was nice, but quiet and expect to get ID checked if you look young for ur age,I did!! The pool is basic, small and square, but everything thats needed and has a great view and the change rooms don't have seperate changing cubicles,so be warned if this is a problem!!!There are dryers for ur swim things which are very handy. We had breakfast in the Ambassador grill once and found it to be expensive, though there was plenty of choice,we preferred to go out to a Pret a manger which are all over Manhattan and offer a wide variety of food and drink far cheaper!!! The hotel is,I think,in the perfect location on 44th street between 1st and 2nd,its not too in the thick of it,with lovely views of the river and a nice walk right outside your door, yet you can cut straight across to Central Station,Rockerfeller centre and Fifth avenue, all a couple of blocks away. There is a really really nice chinese restaurant across the road, highly recommended. Just to let you know that as this hotel is connected with the United Nations and that important government figures,do stay here.If you happen to be around the entrance when they arrive you might be asked to make some room for the body guards and entourage to escort them in. Over all a brilliant place to stay, really enjoyed it.
