Milton Keynes, the concrete jungle of Buckinghamshire, is one of the fabled New Towns that were conceptualized last century and started to materialize in the 1960s. Really, it simply serves as a centre for the surrounding villages, which have some interesting histories of their own. Many of the residents live in such an area, like Woughton-on-the-Green, or Woughton Park, and despite the reputation that the town itself has for its concrete cows, such villages are in themselves very beautiful. The shopping centre offers some very functional budget shops, and a lot of large name shops as well. To visit this town would be a mistake without a car and a desire to see one of the sporting events or concerts which set the town aside from true mediocrity of a New Town.
