I was told about this theatre a year ago and thought yeah yeah yeah. This year I was dragged 320 miles from Kent to Cornwall to see a play, WOW what a place.
Anybody who likes the theatre should go, Everyone else too, As it opens during the day for visitors. It is planted out with many exotic looking plants and bushes to add to the experience.
It is actually carved into the cliff top itself with a backdrop of the wonderful Cornish coastline, With waves crashing against a large rock formation directly behind the stage.
The toilet facility is good as is the coffee shop, while in here look out the windows to see a view of a sandy beached cove, otherwise hidden from the theatre itself.
They do not sell alcohol, ( probably a good idea as there are slopes and steps to negotiate and being surefooted is recommended ) they do allow you to take your own in.
The seating is grassed and stone terraces, so hiring seat pads and backs at reasonable rates is a good idea. Tickets are sold in areas and allocated on a first come first serve basis. Speakers are set outside of the theatre at stages up the terraces.
Add to this the fantastic story of the building of it and it just makes the location even more magical. Thank you Rowena Cade.
WOW ! This theatre is amazing. No photo or word can do it justice you have to experience it in person to understand .
