Introduction
=========
I had heard of Soft Play Café’s but was not until my son was invited to a birthday party at one that we had ever been in one.
My son thoroughly enjoyed the soft play at the birthday party but I however found the prices a little over the top. I vowed to find another closer to myself and hopefully better prices.
Website
=======
I searched the internet and came across the website of Mini Monsters Soft Play Café in Loughborough. The website is well presented and easy to navigate as I found all the information I was after.
I also found it very useful that there is video for a virtual tour of the Soft Play and Café. The tour was recorded while the café was closed so you get a very good idea of the size of the place but not the popularity.
There is a download section on their website where you ca print off colouring pages and their leaflet about the services they offer.
Prices
=====
This information has been taken from their website.
Under 1’s £1 or free with older paying sibling
1-3 £3.95
Over 4’s Term Time Mon-Fri £3.95
Over 4’s Weekend and School Holiday £4.95
Please note all children under 12 will be charged for and all children under the age of sixteen needs to be signed in on our register.
At busy times (i.e. during school holidays and weekends) 90-minute play sessions may be in operation.
Membership
==========
Mini Monsters offer a membership scheme, you set up a direct debit with them for £8 per month and you can visit Mini Monsters as often as you like. There is a £10 one off fee payable.
You get unlimited play even during the busy periods like weekends and school holidays, where non-members may be restricted to 90-minute play session.
There is also an admission deal. This includes entry and a Mini Monsters lunch box. Lunch boxes usually cost £3.85 but if you purchase this as part of a meal deal then the same lunch box costs you just £2. The lunch box consists of a sandwich of your choice from the menu, an apple and yoghurt and either a pack of quavers or a carton of juice (apple or orange)
Café
====
The whole café menu is also available to view on the website. You can choose from breakfast baguettes to a 12” pizza, fruit smoothies to fresh ground lattes.
I am very fond of the Monster Mochas, which has squirty cream, chocolate dusting and a flake on top of the mocha. These can also get messy because the staff are very generous with the cream and tends to run down the side of the mug.
Also at the café counter, there is a special’s board, which at the moment is quarter pound cheese burger for £2.50, bacon for extra 35p. These are served on a toasted bun, proper cheese (not the plastic kind usually on burgers) and with a small salad.
The children’s’ menu is good, the Mini Monsters Lunch box which I have already mentioned. There is also lasagne, baked beans and spaghetti bolognese.
The menu is reasonable priced and portion sizes are good. If you are a membership holder you will receive a 10% discount on all food and drink purchased, just remember to show your membership card.
Parties
======
Mini Monsters have areas within the centre for birthday parties. I have not used this facility myself but intend to later this year for my son’s 4th birthday.
Party prices start from £50 for a Budget party to over £300 for VIP that hires the whole venue for 2 hours.
I will not be hiring out the whole venue for my son birthday but have seen on Facebook (as they have their own page) that they have had quite a few closures due to VIP parties.
There have been many parties on over the weekends during our visits there and everything seems very nice and everyone has a good time. Some parties also have Mini Monsters’ special tribute acts such as Peppa Piggle.
Members receive a discount on parties too.
Soft Play Area
===========
The soft play area is very clean and well maintained. There is a rope bring, a spinning stand, football pitch and slide.
There is a role-play area with kitchen and car wash. Mini Monsters provide approximately 6 Little Tikes vehicles for the children to play with, these seem to be very popular and my son particularly likes the police vehicle. These can be driven around the café as well as the car wash.
The children can also choose to play with the smaller cars, wall puzzle or simply read a book.
Overview
=======
I love Mini Monsters; this is an absolute great place for children to burn off their energy while parents can have a sit down with a nice cuppa and chat. If you do happen to go on your own you can amuse yourself with the latest paper and magazines or just enjoy whatever is showing on the 2 big TV’s. There is no sound, as it does get very noisy in the centre, but subtitles are switched on.
My son loves Mini Monsters too, whenever I ask him if he would like to go, the reply is always “YES”. On arrival he is very eager to take his coat and shoes off (no shoes allowed but socks must be warn), and off he goes to find either his favourite police vehicle or just climb his way through the soft play.
Mini Monsters have special events about once a month where one of their tributes acts entertain the children for about an hour. These include Peppa Piggle, Mr Tumblezzz, and Daisy Doo not forgetting their Mascot Ziggy. My son especially likes Mr Tumblezzz.
I strongly recommend Mini Monsters Soft Play Café. If you live in the area or happen to be visiting then please let your little ones have some fun.
