You arrive, the doorman opens the door and you are greated with something close to a feel of wow, we are really living now. The style is very plush, the standard very clean. Check in we found to be very swift with the staff very helpful.
The entrance into the casino (and way to the rooms) is through a very fine forest, with waterfalls, (LAS VEGAS does it BIG). Over the bridge and into the casino, I was already itching to get playing the bright and singing machines or play on the tables. Only thing was it was (and remaind) BUSY.Stayed here (April 05) as we got a really good deal, booked on line a year in advance and saved $1500.
We had a room overlooking the erupting volcano and the views we had of the strip were exceptional. The room was a really good standard, clean, daily service, roomy, bright and fresh. A couple of easy chairs and a writing bureau gave it an aire of being a suite. There was no noise from the exploding volcano, unless we opened the window, which did a couple of times just to breath in the atmosphere, its such a great place. The reasturants at the Mirage were always busy and expensive, and not always that tidy. We found it much better to go and look around, there are loads and loads of restuarants/cafes around with much better value and a lot less busy.
The gaming tables and poker tables were always busy and a bit more expensive than some of the other hotels. The hotel staff were always very friendly and helpful, as were the croupiers.
It was always so busy, we didn't spend much time in the casino, prefering to get out and about to some of the other resorts. It was handy being centre strip though as it meant we could walk to see the other hotels etc. Just a few minutes walk was Treasure Island and the fighting boats, fantastic shopping at the forum which had just recently been refurbished. We tended to get taxis to the other resorts, not expensive. Getting a taxi from the hotel meant we usually had to wait about 10 minuese, which isnt too bad, but other hotels have quicker moving queues.Had a quick look at the white tigers, but wasnt that impressed, they were behind huge glass windows, which meant they could be seen. I didnt find out if they performed in shows, I assumed they were well looked after etc (dont think the hotel would get away with any maltreatment there would be an uproar!) Theres also a dolpharium - again we didnt go and look at this, animals arnt really our thing, and to be honest I didnt speak to anybody that had been to see them - even with it being so busy!
Enjoy the experience of Vegas - it is one of the best.
