Advantages Amazing pool, friendly staff, private sea access
Disadvantages None
I stayed at the Hotel Miramalfi on my honeymoon, we left home the day after our wedding and travelled to Amalfi. I have never, in my life been so tired - so wanted to sleep, sunbathe and spend quality time with my husband!
The first thing to know about this hotel is that the nearest hotel is Naples which is a €80 taxi ride away and not only is it an expensive trip it is terrifying. Combine the hair pin bends with Italian boy racers who think they are racing drivers right up your tail or overtaking on the blind corners! Top tip - arrive in Naples early and take the boat for €10 and arrive in Amalfi in style. The hotel is situated approximately 10 - 15 minutes walk up the hilll from Amalfi town or a short, cheap taxi ride. It has 4* but I think it is better than the 5* hotel just up the hill. The location is perfect - you are removed from town so don't get the noise of thousands of tourists but you can still walk to town easily for meals etc. As you are up the hill a bit you get the most amazing views.
Our room had a fantastic balcony with two sunloungers and a table and chairs. This made it a very private area. The room is air conditioned ( a must in the heat) and has electronic blinds which are fun. It has a large bathroom and an enormous bed. The room also comes with a fridge - whilst staying in Amalfi you have to get your drinking water from town where there is a fountain to collect the water from. Keep it cool in the fridge! The room staff were excellent - the room was spotless and it was nice that they turn down the beds in the evening and leave a chocolate on your pillow.
Breakfast is included and this is a buffet consisting of a typical European breakfast. Cereal, breads, pastries and meats / cheeses as well as a hot breakfast of the day is available - being Italy the coffee is great too!Probably the best feature of the hotel is the private pool and access to the sea!
you take the lift down a shaft in the cliff - and come out at the pool. The pool is up a few steep stairs but has plenty of sun loungers and umbrellas. Just below the pool is access to the sea - it is completely private to the hotel and can't be reached by the public - this means no screaming kids! The pool has full bar service and just up a few steps is a fantastic bar / restaurant serving salads, burgers and great Italian pasta / pizza.
The service in the hotel is good - the staff can't do enough to help you.
