Halong Bay - Almost paradise on earth

Advantages: Somewhere very special
Disadvantages: none that I can think of

The legend: Ha Long Bay - means "Bay of the Descending Dragon" in the Vietnamese language. The local folk tale says that dragons descended from heaven to help locals who were under attack by spitting jewels and jade to the sea, forming a natural fortress against invaders; these precious stones are now the lush green outcrops. It was listed by UNESCO as a World heritage site in 1994. Description and geography: The bay is a mass of limestone islands, each topped with thick jungle ...

The folk tale has it that the dragons descended from heaven to help locals by spitting jewels and jade to the sea, forming a natural fortress against invaders; these precious stones are represented by the lush green outcrops. Several islands boast beautiful grottos and caves with contiguous chambers, hidden ponds and peculiar stone formations. Halong Bay is about 170 ...

Lenght 2 days, minus time to visit the bay. Departure the morning in a minibus collecting the tourists at their hotel. Passage of a bridge on the red stream bordering the rice fields and crossing the busy Vietnamese groups to the farmworks, magnificent potential photos but impossible to take, because the speed of the vehicle. Arrived at noon in the harbor and tourist city of Bai Chai. We got Meal in a near restaurant of which I don't remember the name anymore, and craft in a boat toward the islands. most part of the time the discovery of the bay is with a misty or rainy time.
