Advantages: Comfortable Small Hotel with Character Disadvantages: A tiny lift!
...I've just come back from Geneva and had the privilege of staying in one of the best hotels I've ever visited. I have never stayed in a SwissHotel before and I understand they are all of good quality, but this hotel had so much character too.
Location (1 Rue des Marbrieres)
As I walked everywhere, I will give you approximate walking times from places:-
20 minutes from the main station (Gare Cornavin)
20 minutes from the Old town
15 minutes from the English Garden with the view of the Jet D'Eau
15 minutes from the main shopping area
5 minutes from the nearest supermarket (the Co-op is at the end of the road!)
5 minutes to the nearest bus stop
It's located in a quiet road just outside all the main areas - making it quiet but accessible for everything.
Price

Advantages: Excellent facilities/freebies/ fantastic staff and restaurant Disadvantages: Lacklustre and drab rooms

This all makes the £80 seem much better value for money, especially when you also consider that your room key gives you unlimited access to the gym/spa next door to the hotel (literally next door). Sadly we didn't get to check this out as we had an early start in the morning but I have been told that it is a modern and well-equipped facility and a nice additional bonus! In addition to the 18 meeting rooms and casino the hotel also has five places to eat/drink including a Japanese restaurant.

There are 4 official languages in Switzerland - German, French, Italian and Romanic. Though Italian and Romanic are only spoke in the mountains. Out of the major Swiss cities Bern (the capital) and Zurich are German speaking and Geneva is French speaking.

If you happen to be staying in Geneva don't just stay in Switzerland! You are within walking distance of France, only 20 or so miles to Annacey which is a pretty tourist honey pot in France. And you are also fairly near to Italy. The quickest way to Italy from Geneva is via the Mont Blanc tunnel, though this is closed at the moment but it s due to re-open in October 2001...

Having recently read a lot of great reviews of very expensive cosmetic products, I've taken a long hard look into my own make-up bag, pretty bare that it is. I don't tend to wear much make-up, and I certainly don't spend a great deal of money on it.... more
