I have just got back from seeing my sister in Spain. I decided to fly with Monarch purely for the fact that they offered the cheapest flight. On the dates I WANTED to travel, Easy jet were offering a return flight for £350 at the cheapest. I got mine for £137. Quite a difference I thought. Then again its probably my own fault for leaving only three weeks before booking.
Now as a few of you may know my health is not the best. My main concern was having to carry my baggage as with my back I'm unable to lift anything heavy. When I arrived at Luton airport the girl at the check-in was very warm and helpful. After explaining my situation, she phoned through to the gate and told them I would need some assistance with my hand luggage.
When I finally got to the gate they were all aware that I was on my way, and I ended up getting escorted to the plane with one of their staff carrying my bags to my seat and putting them in the overhead lockers for me. All this and being pre-boarded, I felt really spoilt.!! LOL
When we were finally ready for takeoff we were delayed due to discrepancies in the amount of baggage. Subsequently we were an hour late to leave. Now this is where I started to notice that there wasn't an awful lot of legroom. The seats though very comfortable were a bit too cramped for my long legs. Though if you are not travelling first class you can't really expect buckets of room can you?
The staff on the plane were all lovely. Not too false as some hostess' can be. The food served on the plane was great as far as airplane food goes. I was actually very pleasently suprised. They did all the usuall like serving drinks and the usual sales bit. One thing they did do though that I found a tad unusual ( but then I havn't flown for years) was that they did a charity collection during the flight for some childrens charities.
When we landed, they took all my bags off the plane for me and arranged for one of those buggy things to take me to the baggage collection point.
On my return journey, They were equally as helpful and friendly and I felt really taken care of. And this time there were no delays!! LOL
On the whole I am very pleased with my experience of travelling with Monarch Airlines. The quality of service and the food was excellent. The entertainment wasn't bad it was mainly comedy/drama and I found that my puzzle book was more my kind of thing.
The one downfall that I would point out was the lack of legroom, but then I have very long legs and it is a plane afterall!!!
I will definately use this airline again, and after my mum's account of her journeys with easy jet, I think I went for the better option, (AND THEY WERE CHEAPER !!!!) I would recomend people trying this airline as I was very very pleased.
Happy Flying. xxxx
