The old saying goes “you cannot please everyone all of the time”
I have read most of the previous opes and found that the majority were of a negative nature. I have flown with Monarch on many occasions. I owned a property in Spain for a while and I flew to Alicanti from Gatwick 3 to 4 times a year, many of them with this airline. I cannot remember having a poor flight but now and there would be the enervative delays, then you will get delays with all airlines occasionally
My last flight was to Tenerife with my son and partner in May 2003 from Luton. We were given reserved seats with extra legroom due to our disabilities with no extra charge. The flight took off on time and the 3 hour 40 mins flight was comfortable and the crew were helpful and the food was good.
When people find that they don’t like the in flight food it’s more than likely that as they are given only one type of food and not everyone one will like that meal. I for instance do not like pasta, so my meal will not be enjoyed. It is the luck of the draw as to the menu. Monarch is very good at serving special meals such as diabetic and vegetarian. As long as you give plenty notice they will provide. Best to order when booking.
Checkins these days are slow but that applies to all. It is due to extra security the staff takes a little longer to book you in. This is a small price to pay for our safety. So if the queue is slow, be patient.
I am not going to give loads of details about types of aircraft used by Monarch as I find they are much of a much ness to me but I think they are Boeings of one type or another.
Monarch operates mostly from Gatwick but you can get flight from Luton and Manchester. They fly to most Mediterranean airports. They fly Scheduled and Charter.
Cost depends on where you go and the time of year. School holidays are the most expensive and off season the cheapest. If you book on line well in advance you can pick up the odd bargain, leave it to the last minute and it’s more expensive. We flew to Tenerife from Luton for £170 return in May. This was booked in November of the previous year.

As far as cheap goes, I haven't flown cheaper than with Ryanair. Then again, I've never been on a route with other alternatives. Martin

I have flown with Monarch once. They were not the best airline I have ever encountered, but far from the worst.

I found them to be excellent value. That flight from Tenerife was very bumpy though (like driving over a ploughed field for four hours, lol. Good op Dad. Mike
