With having family living in Spain I am a frequent flyer and decided to look around for the best airline for me and my partner, With so many offering cheap flights to mainland Spain these days I feared it would not be an easy job.
I Started by looking for the cheapest options to begin with and soon my partner and I found one that seemed to be a good price and took them up on there flight offer. After many hitches and poor service with this airline we decided to always fly with a reputable company in the future. Our next flight was 3 months later and while searching the internet I came across an advert for Monarch Airlines, They have a very informative website and easy to understand booking facilities online so we decided to give them a try and got tickets for £150 each return, and so glad we where too!
The service we found from the booking in, to departing the plane in Alicante Spain was all first class. The staff can not do enough to
make to make you feel at ease and satisfied. After booking in we headed down to the departure gate to board our flight. We where a little surprised to say the least when on boarding the plane we where given complementary newspapers and greeted like royalty, even to the point of being personally shown to our seats.
The flight in fact took off ten minutes early and we where soon in the air, after a very smooth take off. Shortly into the flight after the normal safety talks, the drinks trolley was soon upon us laden with an array of soft drinks, beers and spirits. After deciding to have a complementary small bottle of wine each we where asked if we would like another to go with our meals...and again this was free too. We where given free headsets to enjoy the in-flight entertainment and radio stations in a wide choice of tastes and given time to settle down, before the next trolley was brought round, this time with our in-flight meal. One thing we had not had on other flights and that was meals, they may be called Cheap and cheerful airlines but that’s what you get very cheap and not at all cheerful. In the past on the sad excuse of a flight we had had to buy our own food mainly battered looking bap’s, rolls and sandwiches at very high prices we had paid in the past £3 for just a small bap with no filling to be seen in it!
Monarch you will find do things with excellence and do not cut corners for anything, the meal we had put in front of us consisted of a roll and butter, with a small Mediterranean side salad, Chicken and vegetables with new potatoes in gravy, a slice of apple pie and cheese and crackers. The meal was hot and tasted how food should taste, not like some meals that taste more like processed muck, and it truly was tasty and very filling for such small servings. To put an end to such a good meal we where asked by a very friendly member of the cabin crew as they are now called and not hostess’s would we like tea or coffee? We both received a hot cup of tea along with sugar and a small carton of milk and an after dinner mint.
The cabin crew where made up of a mix of both male and female attendants and all where dressed very clean and smart in there yellow and blue uniforms, they radiated confidence in there job and showed commitment to each and everyone of there passengers, from the very old to the babies on board. Each one carried a genuine smile and there approachable nature was very refreshing in contrast with some of the other airlines we had flown with in the past, and from start to finish the flight truly was a eye opener for my partner and I.
After landing in Alicante earlier than scheduled we collected our luggage with speed and all the cases proved they had been handled with care, not only in the UK but also in Spain. So happy with the service we have had with Monarch that we have now become a member of there Vantage frequent flyers club offering, benefits for members such as extra luggage allowance and priority tags for your suitcases and a chance to collect flying points towards free flights. If you need to query anything with them and have access to a PC, then send them an E-mail, they are quick to reply and will help with all that they can, nothing seems to be too much trouble for them when it comes to dealing with there customers, a far cry from some firms today who seem to be only interested in your money.
I agree Monarch may be slightly more expensive but trust me, give them a chance you will be greatly pleased with them I promise you that. If you have ever wanted to know what it would be like to fly first class but could not afford it then fly Monarch as there service is top class.

This airline sounds fantastic. After some pretty terrible flights with some hair-raising landings I'm looking to find a company like this one you describe. Good work.
