I have traveled on a lot of airlines, as having a holiday home in Lanzarote requires me too! When looking for a flight it comes down to cheapest for me and for my holiday in September the airline was Monarch.
I was helped from the beginning by the Cosmos sales centre where I bought my flight from. My partner being 6ft3 is always uncomfortable on a flight. I asked if there was any way of extra leg room or if we could pre book the emergency exit seats. I was told by the operator that emergency exit seats can not be pre booked, as boarding staff need to make sure that the passengers sat in those seats are willing and able to open the doors.Fair enough I thought, and a note was placed on the booking as I requested. I was also asked if I would like to add Monarch Plus on to my flight which was an extra £25pp, this would give me pre book able seats, normal price £7pp, a free head set, free newspapers inbound and a free bottle of wine each with both meals. I did not take this option.
On my departure day from Manchester to Arrecife, I was greeted straight away with a smile from boarding staff as we were checked in. I asked again re extra leg room and the stewardess kindly upgraded me and my Partner to Monarch premium. This was great! Although we had an hour delay, we had great seats, and even had personalized TV’s! The staff on the aircraft were great as well, the best I’ve had by fare. The meal was great too, it was nice and hot! And a nice variety and I always love having and extra cup or two of coffee which was also no problem... On returning two weeks later we just needed to confirm our flight 24 hrs before with the Cosmos reps in Arrecife. The telephone number is printed on your tickets. The return flight was as good as the outgoing except premium was not available, but we did manage to get the emergency exit seats!
I paid around £100pp for my flight seat that was including taxes. I booked mine through the Cosmos call centre; they are the main tour operator for Monarch. I had no problems and my tickets were on time.

Advantages: Quality of British Airways!, Great on-board service!. Disadvantages: Pretty expensive as only recognised airline company which flies to Gibraltar!
