*** The Ace Malaga Palace? ***

Advantages: Location, comfort & views.
Disadvantages: Businesslike and few English speaking staff.

We were outside work in the car park, three of us enjoying the fresh air and sunshine and Angry Man kicking the wall and smoking a cigarette. "Malaga" he said authoritatively "is a dump." This was a view I was to hear echoed from the minute I booked the flight to Malaga and decided to stop overnight before we travelled further into Spain, right up to getting the train from Malaga Airport. Even as a kindly English lady helped us work the ticket machine, our decision was under question. I am pleased to report that Malaga is not that bad. In fact (and I'm not saying this to be contrary) - I like it! This was helped in part by our rather well located hotel. The train journey in from the Airport twists through slum like flats, but somehow, these look better than the approach to Paddington in the rain and the 2 euro journey was the start ...

Around RONDA

Advantages: An absolute gem of a town in a stunning location
Disadvantages: Gets very busy...VERY

When we were visiting the Costa del Sol at the end of May, we decided to take a day-trip to RONDA. Of course, being situated so very close to the concrete jungle of the Costa del Crime, 50km or around an hour's drive, coupled with the fact that the town is stunningly scenic, means that we weren't the only ones with this in mind. IT GETS VERY BUSY. Never mind. It was the first full day of our holiday, so we were up at the crack of dawn (almost) and half-way there before most tour buses had even struggled out of their cosy garages. RONDA is literally jam-packed with history and is one of Andalucia's most visited towns. It hangs, precipitously, atop a plateau which commands wide vistas in all directions. Such a position was always going to be a natural choice for settlement, and so it proved to be. It's been settled since ...

Review of Ronda (Spain)

Walk around Ronda

Advantages: Interesting town
Disadvantages: none

the gorge. Parts of the old town walls still stand. The town of Ronda is an old settlement from Celt times. The later Roman and Moorish architecture are most prominent. There are several museums many eating places and shops. There is a bull ring which is used in fiesta time. There is a museum in the bull ring we did not visit as I am not a lover of bull fighting. There is also an art gallery. After my husband and I mooched around the streets a bit we stopped for lunch ay a café (I can not remember the name of it sorry.) we had a good leisurely lunch. The people we met seemed very friendly. The town is an attractive town it feels friendly and the streets are quite spacious. Some of the buildings are painted white as is popular in this area of Spain After lunch we went to the 14C Mondragon Palace in the old town. This palace has ...
