So ever since then I had been looking forward to going. So in September we all went to Dorset and it was Monkey World which I was most looking forward to. For those who have seen the TV programme 'Monkey Business' then you'll have seen a little about the Centre and what they actually do. ... ...animals that need it.
Monkey World is set in 65 acres near Wareham in Dorset. It is one mile from Wool on the Bere Regis/Wool Road. It is easy to find and there are plenty of signposts. Those of you who know the area it is very close to the Bovington Tank Museum. On entering the park there is plenty of parking spaces all of which are free. There are disabled spaces near the front for those with mobility problems. You need to queue at the kiosk for ...

Advantages: A great day out for all Disadvantages: hearing the awful stories of some of the monkeys before they arrived
Monkey World is a fantastic day out in Wool Dorset. I have been a regular visitor first going not long after the centre opened when I was young. The park is a rescue centre for primates, from chimps to orang-utans, lemurs to woolly monkeys. Last year one of the parks founders, Jim Cronin died and the park now continues in the safe hands of his wife Alison and close friends in his honour. When the park was opened its overall plan was to rescue any ... ...subject of the television series' Monkey Business and Monkey Life which have been shown of TV for many years and it is these shows which have helped fund the great work that is undertaken by the whole team at Monkey World. Just this January Monkey World completed their largest rescue mission to date when they saved around 80 Capuchin monkeys from a bio-medical laboratory in Chile. These small monkeys have all now been re-homed at the park and will ...

Monkey business! Review ofMonkey World Ape Rescue Centreby

Advantages: Monkey have great enclosures, all very clean Disadvantages: Bit pricey, poor map
Just been to Monkey World on a bright cold but sunny January day, with my 1 year old and two-and-a-half year old.
First contact was the website - to get directions - and it is pretty dated and not hugely useful. directions by are are basically absent and when you click on a link for the park itself you just get a scanned in park map.
Still we looked it up on a map and got there - it is near Wareham in Dorset.
It wasn't crowded, being January, ... ...and grass areas, and the monkey enclosures were spotless. There are vending machines for drinks dotted about and plenty of picnic tables as well as places to buy food.
Good toilets with baby changing facilities - again very clean. Two cafes - the main one even has soft play area in it so you can have a cup of tea and a rest while your LO keeps running that old energy off!
Each type of primate has their own area, and there is plenty of good information ...

Monkey world Review ofMonkey World Ape Rescue Centreby

Advantages: Monkeys, the work the sanctuary does. Disadvantages: Possible not enough there for a full day out, the ice cream scam.
Monkey world is a monkey and ape rescue centre in Dorset. Many of the Monkeys there have been rescued from foreign countries where they suffered horrific abuse, so the sanctuary really should be praised for the work it does. As the monkeys all seem healthy and they have large enclosures filled with toys to keep then occupied.
I visited yesterday, I live in South Wales, so it is a three hour drive, so I had high hopes. The park is large and easy ... ...like once you've seen one monkey you have seen them all. It only took about 3 hours to see everything, and that's with a 2 year old child refusing to go in her buggy, and after that there wasn't any need to stay any longer. On this basis , in hindsight, I would not have travelled all the way to go there.
I would recommend Monkey world if you want to pass an afternoon, if you live near by or are on holiday in the vicinity, but I don't think it is ...

Advantages: Never Boring, great beaches, plenty to do Disadvantages: Harbourmaster? lol
.... It is a haven for wildlife and peacocks roam freely.
Poole Park
There are loads of things to do in Poole Park and you could spend a good half day there perhaps going on to Sandbanks afterwards. There is crazy golf, a putting green, tennis courts, boating lake, childrens play area, bowling green and an indoor adventure playground called Gus Gorillas Jungle playground next to a café. The park overlooks the bay and is kept very clean and tidy with well tended flower beds and its FREE.
MonkeyWorld
No, not somewhere you can leave your little monkeys but an aperescuecentre with over 160 monkeysrescued from all over the world. An interesting day if you like monkeys.
Admission costs £8.00 per adult, £6.00 per child aged 3.15 and £6.00 for oap and disabled. A family ticket costs £24.00.
