Advantages: Everything it is an excellent hotel
Disadvantages: Coffee at breakfast was awful

We visited this Hotel in March 2006 and it was just brilliant, the room we had was spacious and very clean, with a lovely balcony. The bed was comfortable, the room had great curtains to block the light from coming into the room in the mornings, and there was no noise of a nighttime either - it is, without doubt, the best weeks sleep I have ever had on a holiday. The breakfast was adequate, nothing amazing, but there was plenty to keep you going. We took the B&B option, so I cannot comment on the evening meals, but there are restaurants and cafes within 100 yards of this hotel, so you will not need to go far to find something. Carvoeiro has many restaurants, giving different options, seafood is fresh and plentiful, but you can also have italian, thai, chinese, indian, plus there are lots of restaurants serving grilled steaks, chicken ...

Fly High With Santos

Advantages: Quality Persistence Distinctive
Disadvantages: Some Men Do Not Like It

Santos de Cartier was introduced in 1981 and named in honour of Alberto Santos Dumont a pioneer in aviation. Considered by many to be the true father of  flight, Dumont was a friend of Louis Cartier and it was at his friends request that Louis invented the wristwatch, so that he could keep his hands on the controls while checking the time. Santos comes in a very smart silver coloured box and the bottle is a dark brown glass with silvered mountings.Altogether very smart and chic. The fragrance is a blend of lavender, basil, bergamot, nutmeg, cumin, juniper, sandalwood, cedar wood, patchouli and vetiver all pretty much standard ingredients for a mans fragrance but notable for the number used and the skill with which they are combined. Memories of Marisa Monte

Advantages: Sumptuous arrangments and the voice of Marisa Monte.
Disadvantages: 'Rose & Charcoal' is a better album.

I first remember hearing this album on a warm steamy tropical afternoon in 2003 whilst swinging in a hammock beside a riverbank. I'd kind of forgotten I still had the CD and have only recently started playing it again after rediscovering it at he bottom of my CD collection. It is all to easy to place Marisa Monte's music into the category of MPB (Música Popular Brasileira - Brazilian Popular Music) - a type of urban popular music that emerged in the 1970s with artists such as Chico Buarque, Maria Bethânia and Gal Costa. MPB evolved from the Bossa Nova period that dominated the 1960s and the subsequent 'Tropicália' movement led by Caetano Veloso and Gilberto Gil. Like European and North American pop music, MPB combines many influences derived from contemporary folk and rock, but often borrows heavily from traditional Brazilian Samba ...
