The three star CostaBravahotel in Tossa deMar is situated approximately 200 metres from the beach and 150 metres from the resort centre. Barcelona is only 48 miles away and easily accessible from the nearby train service, which runs approx every 20 minutes.
Tossa itself is full of many small shop, bars, café's and restaurants, there is also a land train service, which runs about every 20 minutes, for a couple of Euros' it will take you all around resort, or jump of at its many stops, there is a large weekly market, for all your bargains and holiday trinkets.
A very nice beach is close to, clean, well looked after and plenty of facilities including water sports, and snack bars, all of which is across the main road, but ...
hotel was clean and staff and all were very friendly
food was ok but not much variaty.
found it very noisey with younger people shouting late at night ,had to have a word with youngsters to ask them to be quiet at 3.00 in morming.
the bedroom doors all had marks where they had been tried to force open
and the couple next door left the bolcony door open and some one had got in through and jammed the door shut .robbed them and left back through bolcony,we were woken at 12.30 by staff to let him in our room to gain entry to their room

Advantages: Great for the kids, Great Swimming pools Pools, Friendly Staff, Vast selection of food. Clean. Disadvantages: Expensive inside the hotel, noisy, poor location, gritty steep shelf beach outside the hotel.

Pineda is the smaller of the two resorts.
Entertainment wise (it?s a one street town) with several restaurants? and bars and the usual array of trinket shops.
(Very pleasant but not a swinging nightspot!)
Calella is the livelier destination.
If its a busy resort you are looking for, I suggest you head north towards Santa Susanna, Malgrat and Blanes or a little further to Lloret. (NOT FAR!)
I?m afraid to say the beaches in Pineda and Calella are poor
A Builders Merchant Paradise.
Gritty Sand/aggregate!.....with a steep shelf into the sea.
Take a pair of sandals or flip flops because its impossible to walk (OUCH!)
The beach is easily reached by crossing the road and a subway underneath a railway track (COSTABRAVA/BARCELONA line) about 5 minutes walk!
