...approx. £110-00 La Ronde is situated on l'Ile Ste. Helene, and is easily accessible via public transport or by car. When Expo '67 ended and the exhibition buildings were emptied, more rides were added to the site, ......became a world-class theme park. Advantages: Always one of the best races of the year with some unpredictable results Disadvantages: Has seen some bad crashes - Panis in 1997 ring any bells?
Ooh look what I have just found. This is a piece of writing on the 2001 Canadian GP I wrote a while ago. I know its late but better late than never I say... NEWS PRIOR TO RACE It may have only been two weeks ago but since the Monaco GP the F1 news bandwagon just hasn’t stopped rolling. Topping the news is Adrian Newey who is in the middle of a catfight ironically between Jaguar and Mclaren. Both teams claim they have secured a contract with ......a year. Newey who is a friend of Jaguar boss Bobby Rahal seemed to be on his way to Jaguar after Rahal broadcasted the contract to the media. Mclaren’s Ron Dennis was quick to disagree and insists he had signed a new 3 year conract with designer who has led Mclaren to 2 world championships. Newey himself seems undecided but did say he did sign a Mclaren contract. Much to Jaguars outrage. Now the lawyers are stepping in to sort this all out. ... Read review

Old Montreal "A bilingual nation, Canada mandates that most services and communications be provided to all situations in both official languages." ---- "Une nation bilingue, Canada exige que la plupart des services et communicatons soient fournis a tous les citoyens dans le deux langues officelles, meme si une de ces langues est une insulte a notre heritage et merite d'etre interdite dans tout le Quebec." ~ from 'The Onion's Our Dumb World' ......that is underground, and "The Old Port", which is less young than the new port. And so begins a mildly ridiculous review on Old Montreal - a super place to brutally injure your ankle on old cobble roadways. Served by three different metro stops, Old Montreal is the best place to go in Montreal for some ol' fashioned shopping fun. There are restaurants, and pubs, and some statues there, as well as some massive buildings that are of negligible importance ... Read review

...but I chose to review St. Joseph's Oratory because it has always held a special place within my heart. I was 6 or 7 the very first time I visited St. Joseph's... a tiny country girl in a very big city. St. Joseph's Oratory was built atop Mount Royal in 1904, with the original structure being a simple chapel built in honour of St. Joseph. The founder was Brother Andre, a man who devoted his entire life to the sick and handicapped, and who possessed ......a spiritual house devoted to St. Joseph, his popularity around the world as a miracle-worker soon made it impossible for him to welcome the thousands of pilgrims who flocked to him. The chapel was simply too small... therefore it was extended in 1908 and again in 1910. The numbers of visitors continued to increase at a rapid rate, therefore in 1917 a new Crypt Church was built that could seat 1,000 people... of course, this was insufficient, Brother ... Read review

...things like that - and Montreal weren't prepared to be any different. They decided, not only would they build an incredibly whopping stadium for their main events, but to give it a roof that could open and close at will. Not it's own will, it's not sentient, but at the will of the man in charge of the mechanism. To hold such a large roof would prove tricky, as this was 1976 after all, so the organisers realised that the only way to hold it would ......but it takes a special Montreal spirit to build the World's largest incline tower, and so the plans were drawn up and commissioned, and they built it. Montreal was home to the World's tallest inclined tower, and even though the BT Tower looks strangely wonky when you look at it from a distance, the Olympic Tower in Montreal continues to be the tallest inclined tower in the World. But it wasn't built in time. Strikes (it was built by the French, after ... Read review
