...), and are immediately charmed by the old buildings, horse-drawn carriages and exterior pubs, bars, restaurants, hotels, inns, and cafes. There is this extraordinary feeling of awe as you approach the ever popular area of Place Jacques Cartier (no cars allowed). This area, a wide band of space nestled between buildings, is a treasure trove of activity, and adults and children alike will be astounded by the numerous (free) shows given by musicians, artists and clowns... this is, truly, an extraordinary way to spend a lazy, sunny afternoon. And as you may know... or not... Montreal is blessed with more sunshine per year than the sunniest area in England.
There is a festive quality to Old Montreal, and the cheer and awe of the reveller's is extremely infectious... this is the meeting ground for musicians who love to play for passersby, and for artists...

Advantages: Many beautiful sights with lots of shopping and cafes Disadvantages: Only if you need to speak French
...Montreal is a city that is definitely worth visiting. It has many historical sites, such as the Notre-Dame Basilica, Hotel de Ville, Place d'Armes-, Place Royale and my favorite, the Place Montreal Trust Mall.

What makes Montreal so unique is the fact that it combines the traditions of North America along with those of Europe. In Montreal, you shouldn’t have any language problems as most of the people speak English as well as French. What you do in Montreal depends entirely on what you like and there really is something for virtually everybody. Whether it’s clubs, shopping or visiting museums, there is always plenty to do and see. As a Formula One fan, one of the things at the top of my itinerary was a visit to Notre Dame Island to see the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve which is named after the legendary driver who actually came from Quebec. The Quebecois people are very friendly and the atmosphere in Montreal is simply amazing. Montreal...
