...top of the entrance, a Sat Nav device could prove invaluable to get you here. However, if you type in the above postcode on the RAC route planner website (www.rac.co.uk), it will find the place for you and can print off directions for a return route home. There are no admission charges. Opening times are from 8 am to dusk all year round except Christmas Day and a few days in January for cleaning the site.

An almost free day out

Advantages: can be a very cheap day out
Disadvantages: car parking is expensive

...to live fairly close to Moors valley Country Park. Situated over 750 acres of woodland in Ashley Heath, Dorset, Moors valley has lots to do for a cheap family day out. Getting there by car is the easiest option as it is a few miles from Ringwood, and fairly close to the M27. Ample car parking is available on site at Moors Valley, however charges are quite high at approx £7.00 for the day. This can be balanced out when you discover you don't have ...
...kind in these places and Moors valley is no exception, however the food is good, there is a good variety and they cater for families well. The token ice cream booth is placed on three sites here, all conveniently placed on a large green area and close to the car parks. You have to be careful here as bins aren't provided due to the danger of wildlife. You can however pass your lolly sticks over the ice cream counter and they will take them for you. ...

Moors Valley - our local 'park'

Advantages: Great for a long walk
Disadvantages: Scary ..........

...within 20 minutes' drive from Moors Valley, and when my daughter was young, we used to go there often. It used to cost just £1.00 for all day parking (unlike the fortune you pay now), and we used to love sitting by the duck pond, going on the train, etc. - all the things you do with a young child. However, 15 years on things have changed. A few years ago we started walking seriously, and thought that Moors Valley would be ideal to knock out 10 miles ...
...found the deeper parts of Moors Valley to be absolutely terrifying. So be warned ............ However, Moors Valley is a really great place to go, so long as you stay in the parts that are well used and close to the visitor centre, shop, cafe, etc. It is no longer a cheap day out (it used to be fantastic for just £1!!). But if you're even faintly nervous - BE WARNED - THIS IS ONE SERIOUSLY SPOOKY PLACE !!! Love M xxx ...

Wellington Country Park

Advantages: Reasonable prices, tranquil setting, great for picnics, lots to do for children.
Disadvantages: Lack of toilets further down the park, too much bird pooh.

would have noticed it coming in. I took a picnic and only purchased a tea, an ice cream and two cold drinks from here so cannot comment on the food quality. From what I saw the prices ranged from £1.00 upwards depending on what you had. Ribena juice cartons were £0.99, an ice cream was £1.80 and a tea in a polystyrene cup (yuk) was £1. The pine seating area inside was clean and comfortable. To be honest, take your own picnic. It?s more enjoyable eating in the great outdoors and it?s cheaper too. Unlike Moors Valley Country Park which I also reviewed, this place has litter bins all over the place for your rubbish so you don?t have to take it home with you. **** Toilets**** Only one set as far as I could see and these were in the entrance by the café. The Ladies loo is hidden in the left hand side of the café, took us a while ...
