The East coast is a mixture of shingle and sandy beaches. Here in Moraitika there is both although the beach is ... ...crowded. The sun beds and Parasols are not free and cost about 6Euro per day for 2beds and a parasol. Along the beach is a lovely walk (with shade along much of the path) where you will pass many restaurants, bars cafes, water slides for children, an arcade, a play park, and Peddlos.

BEACH
The East coast is a mixture of shingle and sandy beaches. Here in Moraitika there is both although the beach is long but narrow so mid season may be a little crowded. The sun beds and Parasols are not free and cost about 6Euro per day for 2beds and a parasol. Along the beach is a lovely walk (with shade along much of the path) where you will pass many restaurants, bars cafes, water slides for children, an arcade, a play park, and Peddlos. The water is lovely and clean and is very shallow. You could walk out 20m and still be waist deep which is very reassuring when you have small children, plenty of paddling space for bat and ball etc. or learning to swim as the water is very calm as the East coast is so close to the mainland Greece.
ACTIVITIES
Boat cruises to various places from a couple of hours to view a shipreck or lagoon, with a picnic or ones for all evening with a bbq on some desserted beach unreachable by land and others too. Water sports including water skiing, paraglyding, banana boats, ringos. Not much waves on the East so Wind surfing and surfing are much better on the West Coast ( Issos beach and St George South are great for these with classes and surf hire) you can get there easily 20m by scooter south of Moraitika.
RESTAURANTS/ BARS
Plenty of Atmosphere without being rowdy The food is great and such reasonable prices you have no excuses to not venture out and try new things. TIP on your first evening go for a meze to share ( most restaurants do them) a wide selection of the most popular Greek and local Corfu dishes starters, and mains which gives a great idea of what you will like to eat while staying. The Bars are warm and friendly with great prices and with indoor and outdoor seating in most bars. Entertainment in some such as kareoke or games.
( if you're looking for an 18-30's style holiday this really is not for you! look up Kavos)
CHILDREN
We travelled with a 2 year old on our last trip and were a little concerned about safety as foreign standards don't compete with Brittish however arriving at our Hotel we found a safety bar on the childs bed ( Hotel Seabird also reviewed) There are outdoor parks and an indoor toddler play area for up to 6 years ( Monkey business) about 100 metres from the beach with a ball pit and soft play with slides etc. Lots of childrens toys like little tykes cars and play houses. Only a couple of Euros including a juice box. There are tables within view where parents can sit and have a drink and snack while the children play. Children are welcome in all restaurants and bars and most restaurants had highchairs and were very accommodating when ordering smaller portions of real food of the menu.
Everyone we met while there were so friendly and really helped make our holiday.
Overall a relaxing holiday with plenty to do great atmosphere without being rowdy Definately would return
Restaurants to definately try which I will review in near future
Kavouria ( on the beach open from early morning till late night with a bar and separate restaurant) High chairs and very friendly people
Rose Garden ( just off the main road open from early evening till late night with a bar and restaurant) High chairs and play park very friendly
Village Taverna ( set up high in the old village with a view overlooking the sea and very friendly people) LOTS OF STEPS TO GET TO IT.
