Walk across Morecambe promenade and you find award-winning public art, golden sandy beaches and the long-awaited restoration of our world-famous Midland Hotel (due to be completed in June 2008).
There is plenty to do and see there, I am going to describe some of my favourite places:
1) Morecambe Promenade Morecambe Beach holds some very fond memories for me and following the recent investment we are now proud that our sand glistens again. Along the beach you can see a range of public artwork and bird sculptures - a Sunday afternoon walk along the prom is a great way to round off the weekend.
The Stone Jetty on Morecambe prom is an excellent detour along your walk. Since it was revamped, it has won over the locals and visitors alike.
2) Happy Mount Park I love the weekend jazz festival that they hold in Happy Mount Park each summer, I can be found there with my chair and dog throughout the entire weekend.
The Park has activities for all ages including play areas, swingboats, miniature railway, bowling green, miniature golf, putting green, crazy golf, paddling pool, trampolines, roundabout, multi-purpose sports surface, Japanese garden, cafe, ice cream kiosk and picnic area.
3) Eric Morecambe Stage & Statue Of course no list is complete without including the Eric Morecambe Statue - unveiled by the Queen in 1999, the life-sized statue depicts Eric Morecambe in one of his more famous poses.
4) Winter Gardens The Winter Gardens theatre was built in 1896 and used to be one of the largest variety theatre between Manchester and Glasgow. The theatre is currently being refurbished as part of Morecambe's regeneration scheme. It is often open to the public to have a look around although the refurbishment is not complete yet.
5) Regent Park Regent park has recently had a face-lift and now has a new bowling green and kids play area. In the summer festivals are occassionally held here, or at other times of the year it is just a nice park to go for a walk in.
6) Heysham Village Heysham Village is an unbelievably beautiful place, with heysham Barrows, and Half Moon Bay I love going here on a summers evening and just sitting on the rocks.
While Morecambe is still working on regenerating itself - at least we are doing something, it can only get better. And Personally I like the place!
Advantages: Beautiful scenery across the Bay, Disadvantages: Too much solitude, closed shops, litter, groups of disinterested youths
Visited Morecambe last month to see relatives and was really shocked to see how much this resort is deteriorating. Despite the old adage of this seaside town and the countless butts of many a comedian I personally have some nice memories of years back
Happy Mount Park when my children were little was an experience in itself especially when the illuminations wer on but the descision to take these away led to this steady downfall of "Blackpool's poorer ... ...my mind.
The scenery along Morecambe bay and the ample parking (nobody goes) is about the only positive thing going for this. Vast amounts of money have seemingly gone into refurbishing the Midland Hotel - famous art deco hotel commanding top position on the promenade - but nothing on the place itself.
Before Sunday trading laws were eased the Sunday market was brilliant but when last visited there was nothing but a few paltry stalls. Even the ...

Advantages: Quiet, inexpensive, good for small kids Disadvantages: Not much to do if it rains
Morecambe is a smallish seaside town off the Lancashire coast. It got really run down a few years ago but seems to be improving now. There is a fine cinema, bowling alley, swimming pool, etc. The beach has been cleaned up and when the sun shines there is no finer seaside resort.
Morecambe is better than blackpool if you have small children because its quieter and less expensive! Don't forget to see Eric Morecambe's statue on the seafront when you ...

Advantages: scenery Disadvantages: nothing much to do - no attractions worth much
Morecambe is a little bit of a joke seaside town . It is frankly a dive and at best is going to the dogs.
years ago my parents used to visit and it was popular back then in the sixties and seventies.
Now there are far better places to go and people are not going to waste money going to Morecambe where the weather is often poor and there are few attractions.
The Arabian derby has gone this used to be a good laugh on the front . You had to race ...

Morecambe Fc is in the Nationwide conference.
This is the league below div 3
It goes Prem
Div 1
Div 2
Div 3
Conference
Then the feeder league likes the Northen league. DMPL and Ryman league
Conference football is very good as it is hell to get promoted out of. This is due to only being one spot into div 3
and the fact that they are trying to bring in new ground requirements so thgat you must have a 10000 capacity stadium to enter div 3.

...present for your other half. Morecambe has only way into it and one way out, unless you count jumping into the sea as a escape route. In a word empty, in two, very empty. One final thought, where is their football team in relation to Premier league football, (does it exist? is a another thought) I rest my case. Go to Blackpool you deserve to ...

I live inMorecambe (as you may have guessed from one of my previous review - http://members.dooyoo.co.uk/destinations-national/ morecombe-in-general/1084120/) meaning that I am a 5 to 15 minute car / train / bus ride away from the Historical City of Lancaster. Lancaster is a loverly mixture of history, contemporary culture and vibrant city. It has plenty of heritage to entertain all ages. There is everything you could want - castles, museums, shopping, entertainment and great food!
It is perfectly located between The Lakes and Manchester, meaning you can drive to either in a day and back comfortably with plenty of time to look around without feeling rushed.
Below Are just some of my favourite places to visit in Lancaster:
