Any port in a (desert) storm Advantages: Lovely hotel, fun and quiet, great beach Disadvantages: Not really worth 5 stars, bit isolated, not family friendly ...premium hotels, the striking 5-star Sofitel Agadir on Baie des Palmiers is a large, purpose built property which was designed to impress and does. Agadir has a royal palace nearby, HM the King having chosen to be nearby when he is visiting: But the Sofitel Agadir has the direct beachfront access! This is stylised Arabic/North African architecture (it looks from the outside like a cross between an ancient Egyptian temple, a desert fort and a fortified ... ...sprawl of development and the Sofitel Agadir is at the end of the row of beachfront hotels (although another is already being built beyond it) and this also means that you are a long way from 'downtown'. Actually, again because of the history and the way the new city has evolved, there is no single 'downtown' but rather a series of shopping and eating areas. Lovely boutique hotel in the heart of Marrakech Advantages: Service, location, service, location, and service Disadvantages: Quite liked it the way it is ...which one to choose. Dar Les Cigognes ticks lots of boxes: great location next to important sites like Saadian Tombs and Badi Palace; lot's of fine eating places nearby--the terrace at Kosybar is a nice place to enjoy a drink or a meal--though the eating is pretty good at the hotel too. There is a spa, a nice big roof terrace to enjoy the sun on, the room was spacious and well-appointed. All of this is trivial in the end compared to what makes this ... ...as cheap as we expected--restaurants are a tad pricey. Hotel and Casino Movenpick, Tangier, Morocco Advantages: Looks lovely and decor great Disadvantages: poor food and service in restaurant ...Tangier: From the outside this hotel is quite modern and looks very imposing . It is on the outskirts of Tangier right down the beachfront it is about 10 minutes drive from the main town so it is not really handy for getting to the town for awalk, you would need a taxi. However the setting offers lovely views of the coast, harbour and out to sea.I would think that the way the hotel is built that there would ot be many rooms without a good view. ... ...and expensive hotel the entrance lobby is beautiful with a definite Moroccan feel - settings of cushions on the floor round a Morrocan tea pot set, heavy wooden decorated furniture long floaty curtains from the ceiling - all very atmospheric. Good, solid choice, but not without its flaws Advantages: Lovely spa and swimming pool, good beachside location Disadvantages: Some things don't work, road between hotel and beach This was a good, solid choice of hotel, although not without its drawbacks. The hotel is, on the whole, as lovely as the photographs on the hotel's official website would suggest, although the photographs don't show the cracked tiles, dirty and damp cushions on the balcony, lights on the balcony not working or other small flaws. These flaws are not in themselves enough to put me off recommending this hotel as the rooms are generally well equipped ... ...hotel of its calibre. The hotel is located right on the beach, although needless to say the hotel photographs don't make a particularly big deal about the main road running between the hotel and the beach. Whilst the view puts paid to any secluded sea-side view fantasies, there is so much life going on on the promenade that the beach-side balconies would provide an excellent people-watching vantage point.
