...explanation is that I used Mortonhall while on a Motorcycling holiday a few years ago and liked the facilities. Add to that peak season when the Tattoo & Fringe festival are on and accomodation is at a premium in the city.
The campsite is signposted off the A720 city bypass Lothianburn/ Straiton exit depending which direction you are approaching from. Its no more than a mile from either exit.
On arrival you book in and are assigned a pitch depending ... ...or Camper. The booking area also has a shop with basic provisions and accessories for caravans along with some camping equipment.
You will be given a map and directions will be drawn onto it so you can find your pitch (there are quite a lot so the map is a very good idea). A lot of the pitches are under or around trees, some people have a problem with this but in Scotland natural wind breaks can definitely be a bonus.

It was part business, part leisure that took me to De Vere Carden Park Hotel and Golf club this weekend for an overnight stay. I was looking forward to some rest and relaxation, having made several trips to the NW over recent weeks. I have stayed at this more
