Pease Pottage services is just off Junction 11 of the M23, 7 miles south of London Gatwick Airport.

Coming off the motorway southbound, just take the first exit off the roundabout. Northbound, its the thirs exit. It's instantly noticeable as you drive off the slip road and unlike many service station carparks, the layout is simple. One way for car parking, one way for lorries and another way for fuel. The fuelling station is a Shell garage, and while the petrol is more expensive than town and supermarket petrol stations, its still a bit cheaper than other local motorway services such as Clacket Lane on the M25.

Inside the service area is a Burger King, a cafeteria, a convenience store and toilet facilities. There's a small arcade area with fruit machines and arcade games, and there's also a cashpoint (although it is one of those which charge you a couple of quid each transaction!).

The first thing to notice on arrival is how small the place is! It is not a very busy service station and therefore can afford to be quite compact. But nothing found in your average service station is missing. The shop is well stocked with magazines, papers, books, CDs and the usual over-priced service station snacks, drinks and sweets. The staff always seem to be friendly and helpfull too.

The cafeteria sells hot and cold food from a buffet, or a reasonably simple but sufficient made-to-order menu. It is quite comfortable too, as service stations go. The Burger King is okay for some fast-food and provides all the chain's usual treats, but at double the price. Ouch! Personally, I'd rather a nice sandwich from the cafetreia or the shop!

The toilets are very clean and always smell of fresh disinfectant, which is always reassuring!!!

Just outside, there's a small play area for kids, witha climbing frame, see-saw and slide to keep them entertained.

All in all, a very small but well equipped and pleasant Moto service station!

Burger King seem to be making a lot of money out of facilities like this don't they? I just wish they would reflect this in the prices they charge. I hove found that the prices are hugely inflated at places like this....MANDXX

Service Stations are disgustingly expensive and I'm convinced it's because they know you can't go anywhere else! lol Nice op. Chris x
