Should Britain Have a Motto?
CIAO Review > 04-12-08
Titled: You gotta know when to hold-em?-
--------------------------------------------------------
It appears that the Lenders are cracking down hard on borrowers who fall into arrears as they resort to desperate measures to recover bad debts. These are the same corporations that send blank cheques through the post to the poor and vulnerable citizens of the UK all the time. Dangling a carrot in front of the poor is an evil act to do; especially when it is feeding capitalistic greedy 'fat cats' who out to hit their 'inflated' bonuses at any cost to the monetary system; leaving the ever stretched money black-hole to be paid for by the taxpayer. I'm still waiting for an answer from Westminster in how they are going to regulate the greedy banks eye for sucking the life out of our poor ...
Advantages: It allowed me to vent some anger writing this article Disadvantages: A motto won't bring down the price of petrol
feel better, old Gordy has decided the country needs a motto. We don't actually have a written constitution and, since we handed all the assets of our Empire over to anybody who asked us for it, not to mention the fact that Gordon himself sold pretty much all our gold reserves whilst the price of gold was at its lowest point, coming up with a motto seems a bit of a weak attempt to garner public favour.
Mr Brown, who earlier this year denied he had any plans to give the country a motto, has now done one of politics fabled u-turns and decided that it would be a good idea for us to have one. But I'm sort of perplexed as to why we need one. Yes, the Americans have got "In God We Trust" and the French have the passionate "liberté, égalité, fraternité" as their slogan. Search around hard enough and you'll find that Aruba has the motto "One ...
Advantages: Friendly town with lots to do, a lovely holiday. Disadvantages: If you steer clear of the 'English Bars' there are none
COSTA DEL SOL
Benalmadea Costa,
I'm afraid I was always a bit of a 'travel snob' regarding the Costa del Sol. I envisaged the types of scene in TV's Benadorm, a type of Blackpool with sun.
As members of a vacation club ( it was then Sunterra now Diamon Resorts) we had the opportunity for a weeks break for relatively few points at the Sahara Sunset in Benalmadea Costa, as we could get Easy Jet airfairs to Malaga for a very low price we decided to try it.
We have been three times more since then - so needless to say I was not disappointed.
Benalmadena is only 15 kilometers from Malaga Airport, car hire is easily obtainable but it is only 25 euros for a taxi from the airport and there are plenty of excursions and good public transport available in the resort. It is set on the Costa del Sol between ...

Manufacturer's product description
For a visual treat, visit this baroque house practically bursting with atmosphere. There's a collection of antiques and the tables are covered with lace. The restaurant is in a 15th-century hamlet that alone is worth the trip -- 13km (8 miles) from Lugano on the road to Bellinzona. The excellent menu features a selection of homemade pastas, including green tagliolini with scampi. Two types of risotto are offered, one of them cooked delectably in champagne. Fresh fish looms large on the menu, including a selection of "fruits of the sea" gratinée with zabaglione. Main meat dishes are likely to include a veal mignon, veal kidneys cooked with sherry, a mixed medley of meats, or perhaps alpine-style lamb roasted aromatically with fresh herbs. Instead of dessert, such as one of the cold soufflés, many diners prefer to end their meal with a regional cheese of the Ticino. The wine list includes some 500 wines from all over the world.
