Of course, it is presumed a minimum of comfortability for the three people in the room, but it was a sad surprise when we arrived and the bed for two people was fine, as expected, nut not the third one.
We already knew that the third person had to sleep in a sofa bed ... ...fact a plank of wood with a very thin mattress!! It was so surprising that I took pictures of it.
We explained to the person in the front desk that it was really impossible to sleep there. The only reply (with very very bad manners) was that some people had complained about this issue before but this was not a major problem, according to this employee. We had a very sad and disappointing experience in this hotel. We booked a room for three adults, as it is specified in the reservation form from the hotel when booking. Of course, it is presumed a minimum of comfortability for the three people in the room, but it was a sad surprise when we arrived and the bed for two people was fine, as expected, nut not the third one. We already knew that the third person had to sleep in a sofa bed but we could not imagine that such "bed" was in fact a plank of wood with a very thin mattress!! It was so surprising that I took pictures of it. We explained to the person in the front desk that it was really impossible to sleep there. The only reply (with very very bad manners) was that some people had complained about this issue before but this was not a major problem, according to this employee. We asked to talk to the managing director: he went with us to the room and he recognized that the sofa bed is not suitable to sleep because of its hardness. But the only solution given was either put another mattress of the same thickness (obviously it was not a solution), or to pay 80 euros for upgrading to a junior suite. Finally we had to be reallocated in another hotel, of lower category and far from the city center. We consider defrauded by Moevenpick, since this is not the service you expect of a 4-star hotel. One more thing: we asked for an official complaining form but they rejected to give it, they said that with a blank sheet of paper was enough!!!

Manufacturer's product description
Newly opened in September 2006 this modern hotel has been built on the waterfront next to the ferry passenger terminal and offers a high standard of accommodation in this exciting part of the city. An imposing 20 storey building fromthe outside leads to a calm and relaxing interior with pleasant and well thought out public areas and contemporary styled bedrooms, many with fantastic views of the city or the harbour. The area may only be a short walk from CentralStation, but feels completely different, with art galleries, restaurants such as Jamie Oliver's Fifteen, boutique shops and trendy bars and clubs, all close to the waterfront. A welcome addition to our programme in this up and comingpart of Amsterdam.
