Advantages: Float in the Dead Sea Disadvantages: Have to pay hotel prices as no local shops
...We stayed for 5 days at the DeadSearesort of the Movenpick which is longer than the average tourist but we wanted to have more time to relax at the end of a hectic tour of Jordan.
The hotel is stunning and attracts a large number of tourists from the Middle east and Europe. It has a number of restaurants and some small shops and quite extensive English language library. ( I borrowed Shane Ritchies autobiography!)
It has a luxurious spa reasonable well priced and I sampled a DeadSea Salt rub and massage which was great but not for the faint hearted. I asked for a medium strength massage and I would not have liked to have endured it had I opted for a deep massage. The salt scrub involved lying naked and having salt rubbed into your body and then being wrapped in foli and left to sweat it out. Skin felt great after. My...

Advantages: Unique experience, luxury spa, real get-away-from-it-all Disadvantages: Not cheap, long way away from anything else, could be boring?
...Introduction
The DeadSea is the lowest place on earth. The water surface of the DeadSea is about 410m below sea level right now (it is dropping by about 1m per annum at the moment – more about that later). There are well established hotels and resorts on the Israeli side of the DeadSea, but this is only newly being opened as a tourist location on the Jordanian side, with facilities really only being created in the decade or so. There are other hotels very near here (the MovenpickDeadSea and the DeadSeaSpa being two others that are already reviewed on Ciao) but this review looks at the Marriott. By the way, both a Crown Plaza and a Holiday Inn are currently under construction, so...

Advantages: wonderfully clean Disadvantages: not disabled friendly enough
...The DeadSea is well known for being the place where anyone can float. In fact it is all you can do in the sea as it is so saturated with minerals and salts which have great health giving properties. This is because it is the lowest place on earth and also one of the hottest.
There are 2 resort Hotels just 40km from Amman, The Movenpick is beautiful and very expensive at £30 per day for access to their private beach and spa centre ( Treatments extra ), or the DeadSeaResort hotel which is only £10 per day for the same, treatments such as mud baths are extra.
We went for the mud bath and it was a real experience. The clinic is a medically recognized place with fully qualified staff to administer the varying treatments all of which are based on the Deadsea products. The mud bath is especially good for circulation and weight...
