Movie World

Movie World is described as Hollywood on the Gold Coast (granted smaller than the real thing). It includes thrill rides all-family fun with shows and attractions. Every corner you turn you feel like you have been placed in a cartoon. It is opened daily from 10am to 5.30pm. On Anzac Day it opens later at 1.30pm and it is closed on Christmas Day.

Warner Bros Movie World is located on the M1 Pacific Motorway at Oxenford, and is 21kms north of Surfers Paradise. You can get a shuttle bus that will run directly to the park from Surfers. We bought our tickets on the bus so we didn't have to queue in the long queues. Tickets cost $69 adult and $45 for a child. One Australian dollar equals to roughly 0.445 United Kingdom pounds.

**GUEST COMFORTS**

Guest services are at the front of the park once you go in the main doors. If you have any queries, problems or need assistance they will help you as much as they can. You can hire strollers for your children if needed and also wheelchair hire is available. This can all be got at guest services. Lost property is located here if you lose anything.

Rest rooms and parents rooms are located throughout the park. They are generally clean. Lockers are available if you want to store your things while you go on the rides. Telephones are inside the park if you need to use them (for example you lose someone you can try ringing them.) Water fountains are scattered about the park if you wish to use them. I found them very useful as it gets hot while you are walking around. You can fill up your water bottle without having to pay for it. A first aid centre is situated in the middle of the park, thank goodness I didn't have to use it.

The park has lots of shops everywhere with different themes (for example batman, superman, harry potter, Scooby doo, Shrek, Looney tunes and Charlie and the chocolate factory). They sell lots of different souvenirs, clothes, toys and sweets.

The food in the park is like most theme parks, too expensive for what you get. We had a bugger and chips which tasted alright but nothing to rave about.

**THRILL RIDES**

Now the part for those who are daring and that are the thrill rides. They have several of these within the park. You can go on them as much as you want (there are long enough queues with considerable waiting times!). These rides do have height restrictions so check them before you start queuing.

Superman Escape is a huge rollercoaster which I did not dare to go on being the big baby that I am lol!

Batwing Spaceshot is a vertical ride which shoots you straight up at a very fast speed. The tower you are rapidly launched up is 60 metres. Beside this ride they have the original car used in batman.

Scooby-Doo Spooky Coaster was a rollercoaster that has laser lighting and sound effects that made me duck. I have never laughed so much once I came off it as you didn't know what to expect next. This is a really good ride.

Batman Adventure - The Ride 2 was not as good as I expected. It is a simulated ride which throws you about while you are supposed to be in batman's ship and you are battling joker over Gotham City. I felt it wasn't very good or believable, I think it could have been done better.

Wild West Falls Adventure Ride is a log flume ride with a 20 mete, 70 k/hr drop at the end, be prepared to get wet.

Lethal weapon is a rollercoaster with a difference you are strapped in with your feet dangling. Then you experience drops, dives, bends, rollovers, sidewinders, double spins, loops and plunges. While travelling at 85 km/hr. Personally I thought this would be a bit too much for me.

**SHOWS**

Dreamworks Shrek 4D Adventures is a great 4D show in fact it is the best one I have ever been on. You really feel that you are there. Shrek has to save Fiona and in the process you will take a ride in the onion and get sneezed on. The special effects are amazing! I would recommend that you definitely make time to go and see this show. The show lasts 20 minutes.

Police Academy Stunt Show is another great show featuring high falls, explosions and car chases in the all-live stunt show. It was very funny to watch. Even the entertainment before the show started was very funny with the police man pestering guests entering the seating area. The show lasts 25 minute. I would recommend you go at least 15 minutes before the show as it does fill up quickly.

Scooby-Doo Disco Detectives is a small sketch where the cast of Scooby Doo are filming their first every music video however a Phantom keeps interrupting so the mystery need to be solved. I liked this show as it got everyone involved and picked a few people from the crowd to join in.

Shrek Live Show is more for small young kids. It is a musical where they are throwing a party for grumpy Shrek. You can get close and personal with Shrek, Donkey and Puss in Boots after the show is you wish.

The All Star Parade is not to be missed. It features everyone's favourite Warner Bros Movie World characters (some are Scooby Doo, Shrek and friends and the blockbuster superheros and villains). Cars and flats carrying the characters will go around the park in a specific track. This will be marked out on the map you will be given. My favourite was Shrek however Catwomen and her wip stands out in my mind along with Marilyn Monroe in her fancy car. All ages can enjoy this parade.

On the main street plaza during the day there will be a Marilyn tribute where her character will sing a few of her classic hits to everyone.

Bonnie and Clyde will be about the park and the police believe they are going to rob one of the banks. You can watch them in action and the police trying to catch them in this show.

**KIDS WARNER BRO FUN ZONE**

This area would probably only interest young children however it was nice to walk around looking at the different character displays. Some which spring to mind is Porky Pig, Tasmanian devil and Bugs Bunny. For the small kids they had a small Yosemite Sam railroad where they could go on a train, bumper cars, a rollercoaster and carousel.

**OVERALL**

I really enjoyed this theme park. I only spent one day here and that was enough to do all the rides and shows I wanted. I felt this price was very good value as you are entertained every second you are in the park and shows and rides were included in this price. There are lots to do and see. I feel that it would be a great day out for families and would suit people of all ages as there is something to do for everyone. If you are every in the Gold Coast spending a day here is definitely worth while.

Sadly, a bit too far for us to go!

Hey, great review of Warner Bros. Movie World. I wonder if images of Clint Eastwood are present at the theme park. Clint Eastwood has starred in more Warner Bros. films (e.g. '''Magnum Force''', '''The Enforcer''', '''Dirty Harry''', '''Pink Cadillac''', '''The Rookie''', '''Absolute Power''' etc. ) than any other actor. I also wondering whether they are any rides involving '''The Gremlins''' at the so called '''Hollywood on the Gold Coast'''. ---- DIJEH
