Advantages: Beautiful City, Great Food, Wonderful Museums, Close to Alps
Disadvantages: Too Many Tourists In The Summer

...in Munich for about four years, in the late-seventies and early eighties. My earliest memories of the Hofbräuhaus involve sitting outside it in a parked Mercedes with my two brothers, when I was about six. Our father would drop in to have a beer, or two, with his German work colleagues, leaving us to wait squabbling in the back seat for an hour or so, occasionally bringing out pretzels, or a lemonade, to ease our thirst, if not our boredom. ...visit on your European Tour, Munich is a beautiful, safe city with plenty of greenery and a relaxing atmosphere to help you regain your energy for the next big city. Being quite a small and rich city, Munich probably isn't the best place to go shopping for cheap clothes, but with lots of culture and interesting history, certainly a place to at least spend a couple of days.
