After many, many visits I recommend the Holiday Inn, Munich South, as the ideal stopover for the business traveller

The rooms are comfortable and practical (TV, telephone, bath, shower, minbar, tea/coffee making facilities) but you get that extra bit of something there that's worth the return visits:

1. The cleanliness is second to none, you feel like you are the first person to have every been inside your room.

2. The baths.... oh my, I have never encountered such a deep bath in my life. Just what you need after a hard day.

3. The Staff - they all speak English, are polite and genuinely seem to enjoy and have pride in what they do. Nothing is too much trouble.

4. Room-service. Snacks, meals and drinks served up until 11:30pm. Delicious. You don't have to stick to the menu either, they will try and cook up anything you fancy.

5. Sauna & Pool. Great free facilities in the hotel, visit as often as you like. Showers, towels, toiletries provided.

6. Lap-Top. ISND available in every room (just ask reception).

7. Transport. Taxis available outside most of the day or reception can call one for you. U-Bahn (Munich underground) station is 5 mins walk away, the station is Matchlfinger Strasse and the line is U-3. A Taxi to/from the Airport is approx DM120.

8. Location. Close to most major Siemens campus, there is a Wal-Markt (German ASDA) right by the U-Bahn station for anything you need and there are Greek, Italian, Chinese restaurants nearby.

9. Breakfast Checkout. Available between 6am and 9am.

10. The bar - great beer and hot snacks/meals, all can be charged directly to your room.

11. Breakfast - Buffet style hot and cold. Even champagne cocktails if you feel like a celebration! You must try the scrambled eggs, I don't know what they do to them but they alone are worth the visit.

** Top Tip - if you order breakfast in your room you'll be served with enough food to feed an army. If I have to stay over a weekend I always do this and (using the minibar fridge) this will keep you in fruit and snacks (cheese, rolls, preserves etc) for the whole weekend **

The price for B&B is approx DM260 per night - this is about average. PLEASE NOTE, during Oktoberfest, trade fairs the price almost doubles and you have to book very early (again, this applies to all Munich hotels).
