Hallo all of you!
Today I want to tell you something about Munich, the biggest town in bavaria (germany).
As you can tell from my horrible english, I'm a german girl. Since 3 years I go to munich at the weekends because my boyfriend lives here. Now, I'm actually living in this big town since one year and I want to tell you some facts about this town:
+ WORKING IN MUNICH + To get a job in munich is not very easy! A lot of people have no job and are hanging around in parks every day. In munich we have especially BMW and SIEMENS, to very big employers.
When I'm talking to friends who don't live in Munich and I tell them what I (or friends) earn, they always look like "What? Now you're rich!". But that's not right because living in Munich is very, very expensive...
+ LIVING IN MUNICH + Very expensive, like I said! For example for a city-flat for 2 people, 2,5 rooms, no balcony or garden you have to pay 750 Euro every month. Execept the bills for water, power...
If you go out at the evening you have to take enough money with you. The access to some clubs is about 10 - 30 Euro. Drinks and food are also very expensive. It's very helpful if you know some people in your favourite bars and clubs.
Some month ago munich lost its favourite club-scene, the "Kunstpark Ost". It was europes biggest party-zone with loads of clubs - always fun, always party! But now they have revised a new scene and perhaps it's getting as cool as it was...
+ SHOPPING IN MUNICH + Also the shopping here is very expensive if you go to the favourite shopping-miles. There are shops from every famous trademark, like Prada, Boss... But you can find also enough shops where you can get your clothes for cheaper prices - that's no problem!
Shopping for your necissitis is also no problem because there are many cheap shops where everybody gets what he wants. If it's not to cold you also find stands with vegetables and fruits very often. Of course it's more expensive but also very healthy!
+ RESUME + You've probably recognized that munich is a very expensive town, for locals and for tourists. But for your money you may live in or visit a very clean city with lots of sights, many clubs and bars and friendly people.
Perhaps you want to visit munich during your next holiday or for the "Oktoberfest"? Then talk to some locals in order to get some information where to eat/drin best, where to go out best and what to do during the day.
I wish you a nice and interesting stop at bavarians biggest town and hope you have as much fun as the most people here.
Nice greetings and best wishes from munich,
Mataina
... don't mind about the specific criteria!

Many years since I visited Munich, but was impressed by the cleanliness then. Think you expressed yourself in English very well. Wish I was fluent in a second language. Pat.t

Yippee! I'm coming to Munich later in September ... I love the city. There is so much to do and see. I agree that it is expensive (but I'm used to it living in London)! My only dislike about Munich is the clothes shopping is a bit boring. There aren't enough funky or fashionable boutiques. Love all the bars and restaurants though.

I love Munich -- I visited there 3 years ago and am hoping to live there for part of next year. Surprised to hear that Kunstpark Ost has gone!

Advantages: central location in Europe, cultural center of Bavaria, link to many other major european cities, beer, beer, beer!!! Disadvantages: Maybe a tad more expensive than the outskirting cities. And if you aren't here for the beer....
