Creatif Elephants Advantages: Central location Disadvantages: In need of refurbishment Once upon a time this hotel was special. The public areas have been designed in a chic, modernist style that was fashionable a decade ago. Sadly however, time has marched on and the hotel has not. If you need to be in the middle of Munich, the Elephant fits the bill being a safe, 5 minute walk from the Hauptbahnhof. Like many central stations, a red-light area is all around, but not intrusively so in the case of Munich. The facilities offered by ... ...net access available in the lounge. The rooms themselves have minimal facilities. The thing that really lets the hotel down is the state of cleanliness in the room. Clearly my room was being cleaned every day, but the fixtures and fittings had been left in situ for far too long. Carpets were filthy, tiles were cracked, toilet needed replacing and so on. Mirabell Hotel Advantages: Good location and service Disadvantages: NA I stayed in this hotel on my first visit to Munich in Easter. I travelled down to Munich from Berlin by train with a friend. The hotel is centrally located and it only took us ten minutes walk to get to there. The reception/lobby is not a huge place but has all you need. They have a big shelves with lots of maps/guides. The lady at the desk was friendly. After checking us in, she even helped us with our last minute booking on a day trip. As with ... ...only one very small lift which can only fit in about 2 persons, provided both are small. Fortunately, both of us are quite small and we had small suitcases, we could both go up at the same time. The room is nicely decorated and it's equipped with all the facilities such as hair dryer, coffee making facilities. Breakfast is included in the price and full English style is available, apart from the typical continental breakfast. How to travel 4* on the cheap! Advantages: Cheap, nice rooms Disadvantages: Located a little outside of city centre ...lastminute.com and came across the NH Neue Messe. I had never heard of the NH hotel chain before although subsequent searches for a future hotel have shown it to be quite a large chain on the continent and one I am sure that I will use them again in the future. The NH Neue Messe is a 4* hotel situated about 6km outside Munich city centre. It has 253 rooms and has 9 conference rooms that can take up to 300 people. Coupled with the close proximity ... ...was really impressed with the NH Neue Messe. The primary reason for choosing the hotel was it's low cost but the fact that it was a 4* establishment meant that the trip was extremely comfortable and much better than some previous experiences. Its distance from the city centre wasn't ideal but as someone who doesn't mind catching trains and buses overseas, this was a minor inconvenience. kings hotel Advantages: cheap but luxurious Disadvantages: None that I can think of!!!! One of the best hotels Ive stayed in and Ive stayed in many. We went in december out of season and got a double room for about 30 pounds. Bargain. I was happily surprised when I openend the door and found a gorgeous room with a four poster bed. Vey elegant. The room was lovely and warm and the bathroom was very modern if a bit on the small side but who cares the shower was great. There was loads of useful brochures about munich. Does the Excelsior excel? Advantages: Location - proximity to railway station Disadvantages: No Internet access in rooms, not wheelchair-friendly I stayed at the Hotel Excelsior in Munich on a brief overnight stay following a business trip to Munich. The hotel had been recommended by the BayernLB, who I was visiting as part of the trip, and they'd been able to get me a very favourable rate - of EUR 118 for a night including breakfast which was a considerable saving over the rack rate for the hotel. It was particularly practical as the hotel was only a couple of hundred metres from the main ... ...as I could drop my bags off on my way past on the way to the bank. I cose to check in at the same time - and despite the fact that my room was not ready, they were fine about this and had my luggage taken to my room as soon as it did become ready. The hotel foyer was relatively small, with only a couple of reception desks, but these were both manned all of the time.
