...“Zermatt is a place all skiers must go to before they die” Well, the guide books that state that are spot on. It’s that time of year again, when keen skiers & boarders start to think about their next winter holiday, and where it should be this year. Well, if you haven’t tried Zermatt, Switzerland, then this resort should be near the top of your list. It’s simply excellent. I have been there several times, and love it. There’s a charm, a magic that runs through the lively and attractive village. The lifts are fast and efficient and the runs which take you through stunning scenery, seem to always be in excellent condition. Zermatts height affords the resort a fantastic snow record with skiing from early on in the season till mid April. The resort has three main mountains. Rothorn, Gornergrat and Klein Matterhorn. Advantages: Good Atmosphere, Good Entertainment, Good Food Disadvantages: Very Busy At Times
...I decided that for my 400th Ciao review that I would write a review on my local Pub, The Sherwood in Sheffield. I have reviewed several Pubs during my days on Ciao and members with a good memory may even recall that I chose the subject of my "local" for my 300th review earlier this year. Moving house frequently however means that I have an ever-changing local Pub, although to be fair the Pub that I am reviewing here is one that I have frequented regularly over the years, long before I decided to live nearby.
As a Child I grew up in this area and my Parents have always lived around here. I remember that we used to play on the wasteland that this Pub now stands and even recall the moment when this land of "ours" was fenced off and the bulldozers moved in. Little did I realise then that just a few years later I would be drinking...

...THE SQUIRREL PUB AND CARVERY, BLACKPOOL
The Squirrel is a very popular pub restaurant on Bispham Road in Blackpool. To get to the pub by car you leave the M55 motorway at junction three and follow the A583 road towards Blackpool Town Centre. The A587 is on the right as you go into town and you need to turn right towards the zoo, and you can follow brown elephant signs until you get to Stanley Park. Once near the zoo follow the A587 past Blackpool Victoria Hospital towards Bispham and Cleveleys. You reach the pub on your left after passing B and Q on the right. There is ample car parking once you are at The Squirrel.
The pub is about half a mile north of Layton Railway Station which is on the Blackpool North Line. The best bus route to get there from Blackpool Town Centre is route number 11.
