This was a helpful review of Orsay Museum. Orsay is one of my favorite Museumsin Paris. I'll share with you my ideas about Orsay. Personally I was impressed with: 1) The excellent use of spaces and lighting, you really are comfortable looking to the paintings, sculptures, decorative arts. 2) The architectural solutions, to transform a building with one functionality in another with totally different requirements, are brilliant. The best example is using the benefit of the natural overhead lighting 3) The Book Shop has a big collection of exceptional value 4) The cafeteria has very good food with acceptable prices, everything is done to make you comfortable 5) The Cultural Services are exceptional. They were created to relate to the public, to interact with the public, they introduce modern technology and obtain the maximum possible effect. They have audiovisual and data processing films, workshop rooms for young visitors age 5 to 15, conferences, classes, special events, concerts, memberships.
Orsey Museum it is not just a modern Museum, it is a Cultural Center, it is time well spend; it is an event in itself. I highly recommend Orsey.

I want to tell you now about the art collection, I'll try to summarize:
1) Paintings: Paul Cezanne, Vincent van Gogh, Pierre Auguste Renoir, Toulouse Lautrec, Paul Gauguin, Clode Monet, Edouard Manet, Edgar Degas, Gustave Courbet, Camille Pissarro
2) Remarkable sculptures: Rodin, Jean-baptiste Carpeaux, Joseph Bernard, Camille Claudel, Georges Lacombe
3) Photography: temporary exhibits
4) Decorative Arts: furniture
5) The cultural Services I already described.

What sort of works of art are on display there? Modern or traditional?

I think it would be useful to include information about the works of art that are exhibited here. I have yet to visit this museum but hope to do so one day soon.
