Advantages: Fun for all the family, very informative. Disadvantages: Few
....
The art is very good, with concise yet thorough information explinaing the contexts behind each work. There are also works by Inuit artists and by South Americans.
Also, there are parts aimed at children, with arts and crafts workshops; very easily accessible. This turns what might be a mundane experience for the young into an exciting one, making it a definite family outing. It is also nice to take a souvenir home at the end of the visit!
My parents went on a guided tour of some parts of the museum. These happen twice daily and are free. The feedback I heard was filled with indifference and wasn't particularly positive, so If you'd rather negociate the museum at your own pace, guided by excellent written commentaries, I wouldn't recommend it.
There is a giftshop there, though if you're looking for quality Native American art, I would...

Advantages: CN Tower, great shopping, good art gallery Disadvantages: Non-too pretty
..., it's a once in a lifetime experience.
After the CN tower, there is the famous Eaton centre - excellent shopping but avoid the eatieries here - nasty, overpriced, yuk.
There are various art galleries in the city and you can navigate easily by the tube. Buy tokens for your journeys and that's that. Beware that although you may not actually be going north, you may need to take the north line as the principal metro line runs around a U shape. Many tourists seem to get caught out by this. Anyway - art, that was it. There's the Art Gallery of Ontario (AGO) and the Royal Ontario Museum (ROM). Both are quite highly priced and the former is well worth a visit (houses some excellent modern inuitart and great stuff by the Group of Seven - actual Canadian art - SUPERB). The ROM was unfortunately no good when I went as many of the exhibitions were...

Advantages: Art, cool design, plenty to look at Disadvantages: Pricey, hard to navigate
...The Museed'Orsay used to be the Gare d'Orsay, it has been converted from an old railway station into an art gallery. The building itself is on Rue Bellechasse and from the outside looks like an old railway station, of course many of the windows are now covered and the entrances closed. Inside is a different story as a mix of ideas and designs have transformed the interior into an interesting place to display art.
You can expect to queue for a good half hour to get in but it is well worth it. If you are aged 18-25 it costs 33 francs and otherwise it will cost you 45 francs, £4.50, which makes it one of the more expensive attractions on offer. What do you get for your money? Well in this case you get access to some of the most famous art in the world, including paintings by Cezanne, Degas, Van Gogh, Renoir, Monet, Pisarro and Sisley...

We always go away at the beginning of December, and because it's only for one night, it's best if we go somewhere close to home (Newcastle). This time, we decided on Leeds because the last time we had visited, the shopping was good, and the... more
I have been a Muse fan since 2003 and the release of "Absolution". I have since seen them live 7 times, including the 16th June 2007 at Wembley Stadium.
So, as you would gather, I was looking forward to this DVD for a long long time. It was originally more
