Gateau de Noël à la mode du torr

Advantages: A Christmas cake's a scrumptious treat
Disadvantages: Too rich with so much else to eat?

December's here. It's time to bake Our annual family Christmas cake. Some say it's best done months before, But I'm pedantic; I deplore Such early starts to Christmastide. If it were my decision, I'd Forbid the C-word to be used Till Advent started; it's abused As matters stand?.Enough, I'm ranting - Instead, I'll go and start decanting Some Christmas spirit from its bottle. Thus fuelled and running on full throttle I'll talk you through instructions for Gateau à la mode du torr. Ransack your larder first of all. It's likely that among your haul You'll find dried fruit, which often lurks In shady corners (and it irks A cook to find it aeons later, Condemned to waste by "use by" data). Assuming it's still "best before" Weigh what you've got and buy some more If there's too little. For a tin Of seven inches ...

Musee du Louvre

Advantages: Only place to see the Mona Lisa
Disadvantages: Very busy all the time

Musee du Louvre (Louvre Museum) Background The Louvre is the most visited and one of the oldest, largest and most famous art galleries and museums in the world. The first royal ?Castle of the Louvre? was founded in what was then the western edge of Paris by Philip Augustus in 1190, as a fortified royal palace to defend Paris on its west against Plantagenet attacks. The first building in the existing Louvre was begun in 1535, after demolition of the Old Castle (foundations of the Old Castle are now an exhibition). The architect Pierre Lescot introduced to Paris the new design vocabulary of the Renaissance, which had been developed in the chateaux of the Loire. During his reign (1589 ? 1610), King Henry IV added the Grande Galerie. Henry IV, a promoter of the arts, invited hundreds of artists and craftsmen to live and work ...

Creme de la Merde!

Advantages: This 'designer' cream will turn your bathroom shelf into a shrine.
Disadvantages: Your bank manager will none too pleased.

I have read nothing but rave reviews about Creme de la Mer, an A-list moisturiser with an A-list price tag attached. Magazines are forever gushing about this product, associating words such as 'miracle' and 'extraordinary' to it so naturally curiosity got the better of me. Now although I can be somewhat of a beauty product victim and quite impulsive, even I know that forking out around eighty-eight quid for an itsy tub (30ml!) of this wonder is just plain ridiculous. So I sought to foreign lands, the U S of A to be precise, with hope that I could purchase the product for a fraction of the price - this was roughly about a year ago folks, before recession, when the value of the pound was almost two dollars, and so I managed to get hold of it at just over a hundred dollars with postage and packaging which luckily worked out no more than ...
