Advantages: Centre small enough to get around on foot, pretty Disadvantages: What disadvantages??!!
I spent a year in Dijon during my university year abroad and despite my distinct homesickness and sheer glee to get out of the place once July 2003 came around, this shouldn't reflect badly on the beautiful city itself.
First things first for a tourist; there are an abundance of really nice, cosy yet resonable hotels/ guesthouses. There a few grotty ones too, particulary on Avenue Maréchal Foch, but a really nice hotel can be found on a quiet Dijon back street. Can't remember the name of the hotel, but it's on Rue Verrerie, parallel with Rue de la Préfecture (where I used to live!!).
Ok, sightseeing wise, there is a lot to see. If you are ok with heights, you must go to the top of La Tour Philippe Le Bon, in the middle of the fine arts museum grounds (MuséedesBeauxarts), on the main road through, Rue de la Liberté. It's high but ...

I find that a good steak tastes better with a good mustard (just my opinion), and the wrong ...
Advantages: affordable prices, architecture, wine, food, sightseeing Disadvantages: might get drunk and gain few pounds
but I will keep it short, as it might take too long:
-The cestrum (city centre) surrounded by the burgh and abbeys was built to the 3rd century.
-From the 12th to the 15th century
if you have the chance to wander around the city, walk towards the church called Notre Dame. It is an ancient monument full of history from the 12th century. You can also have a look to the residential houses from the centre.
-From the 15th to the 17th century
The Rebirth movement brings money and even more wealthy buildings are constructed.
-18th century
Dijon becomes the provincial capital known in French as Chef Lieu thanks to its university, music and drawing schools, Art and Literature Academy and its astonishing botanic garden will give to Dijon a respected reputation.
The city owes its fortune to the traditional fair Saint-Jean (many ...
