Living in a land down under

Advantages: Fascinating visit
Disadvantages: A little on the smelly side

Paris is a truly beautiful city with stunning places to visit - the Eiffel Tower, Sacre Couer, Musée D'Orsay, Louvre, Arc de Triomphe, to name but a few. I expect most people visiting Paris, have a few snapshots of all of these places, but as you may have noticed I like to visit the more unusual visitor attractions. Yes, I have been to all the places I've mentioned, but I felt that there must be somewhere a bit more off the beaten track - and then I read about the Musée des Égouts de Paris (the Paris Sewer Museum)! I immediately decided this was a place that I wanted to visit! Why you may ask, is she mad? The answer to that is probably, but if I explain my visit, you may think I'm only slightly barmy! You can tell me what you think on that score after you've finished reading! The guidebook said about this museum "A sewer museum ...

Pause For A Muse

Advantages: Some great tracks,
Disadvantages: Not a huge progression

and ok for on song but I?d imagine a whole album of this would soon get dull. ?Thoughts of a Dying Atheist? starts off punk style and pretty basic. There are the usual howling vocals but it builds into a great chorus, it?s a good track that could have easily ended up being again theatrical in it?s ending but thankfully Muse restrain themselves this time. ?Ruled By Secrecy? is the closing track and sadly it?s probably the dullest track on the album. For me it doesn?t go anywhere and doesn?t really finish the album off. Maybe it?s because I was expecting something that would end with a large bang rather than a sombre note. Anyway I?d say Absolution is not a huge leap forward in sound for Muse but it?s a definite progression in terms of music. They?re using a great deal more instruments and experimentation on this record. There are some ...

Review of Absolution - Muse

Muse - The Resistance

Advantages: Varied, Different, Special
Disadvantages: Not consistant

It?s been a long time coming. 3 years since Black Holes and Revelations Muse have returned with The Resistance and with a weight of expectation that would crush lesser bands the Devon dwelling trio have found new strength, a new sound and new ways to rock your socks. From the outset with first single Uprising, the tone is set. The lyrics are heaving with paranoia and the crowd-pleasing, pounding beats set us up for a wild ride. Resistance tugs the heartstrings with Matt Bellamy declaring ?Love is our Resistance? to the frantic drums of Dom Howard. As if it wasn?t clear enough from the opening track, Muse are back. Undisclosed Desires is the first sign of experimentation. The band sounds comfortable in the clearly unfamiliar territory of a song described cheekily as the ?anti muse song?. It?s not as good as the previous two songs and is ...
