Advantages: A unique city - try it!
Disadvantages: Not for everybody - especially not glitzybods!

...I don’t know why I started to write this opinion but for the fact that I’ve recently returned to work after the long (and not so hot) summer and feel the need to plan my half-term holiday and a cold(er) break. It does help with the sanity somehow, as you can appreciate (the holiday that is - not the temperature)! After recently talking with one of my Canadian friends, I thought of re-visiting Canada during my October week off. I was lucky enough to spend the year abroad of my degree studying at Université Laval in Québec City so it’s a region and country that I’ve come to know pretty well and have always looked upon with more than affection. ...I stayed in this hotel last summer for three nights during a trip across Quebec province with a friend. Usually our budget does not stretch as far as such a delightful hotel but we managed to pick up a great deal, which is the first good point about this hotel. The hotel was exceptionally easy to find and well located within the city, within easy walking distance of the old town. Our room was spacious and very comfortable, clean and well thought out. The bathroom was particularly nice, and perfect for relaxing. We were also lucky enough to have a fantastic view across the city from the room. The gym and pool were also excellent, and the hotel bar very accommodating. Staff were always polite and helpful. In short I have nothing negative to say about this hotel, and I would recommend anyone to stay here during their stay in the beautiful... Read review

Advantages: Top quality modern comfort in old setting, wonderful views

...The Fairmont Le Chateau Frontenac hotel dominates the cliffs overlooking the St Lawrence in the Old City of Québec. Designed to be a railway hotel for the Canadian Pacific Railway, this fairy-castle like building has expanded since construction started at the end of the 19th century, to become the landmark building for the city. The architects have taken pains to ensure that the hotel does not look out of place with the nearby citadel, and this marriage of old style in new, modern surroundings are much in evidence in the interior. According to the leaflet provided in the hotel room, many famous people have stayed here including King George VI and Queen Elizabeth, Princess Grace of Monaco, Charles de Gaulle, Ronald Reagan, François Mitterrand, Charles Lindberg and Alfred Hitchcock.
