BELLA ITALIA
Formerly known as Bella Pasta
My first visit to a Bella Italia was a couple of weeks after returning from a holiday at Lake Como. My 10 year old son was very impressed that he could use his newly aquired snatches of Italian as the waitress greeted us in Italian, he spent the meal throwing in what few words and phrases he had picked up in Italy!!
The restaurant we visited was in Lancaster, our home town, and at that time I didn't realise that it was part of a chain.
I must say that we enjoyed our meal and found the prices reasonable, consequently we have returned several times since. It is on all of these visits that I base this review.
RESTAURANT.......Our local Bella Italia is on the corner of Church Street, Lancaster, and is like a little piece of Italy in the midst of Lancashire. It ...

Advantages: Comprehensive collection of 20th Century Spanish masters Disadvantages: Ridiculous examples of Minimal "Art"
The Museum Reina Sofia contains the most complete collection worldwide of famous 20th Century Spanish masters such as Pablo Picasso, Joan Miró and Salvador Dalí, and is worth an extensive visit when travelling to Madrid.
The Museo Nacional Centro deArte Reina Sofia, so its full name, is one of the three famous museums of fine art in Madrid, a trio which includes the Museo del Prado and the Museo Thyssen Bornemisza.

The third and most famous is the Museo del Prado which covers the earlier periods of Renaissance, Baroque and Rokoko, and culminates in the collection of Spanish masters ...
Advantages: Opulent, near the Guggenheim, best in town Disadvantages: only that there's not more reason to go more often
th and so most years we try to get away for the weekend - usually to see a big modern art museum somewhere in Europe - in this case we wanted to see the Guggenheim Museum so we'd picked up really cheap flights with EasyJet and needed a hotel for the Saturday night. I had booked a cracking good deal for the Saturday night at approx £60 for a double room. Hotels in Bilbao in March can be got for very good prices so be sure to shop around.
If you are well up on your recent history, you might spot the significance of March 2004 for the Spanish people. Just a few days before we flew over, the Madrid train bombings rocked the country. Rumours abounded that all the national museums and galleries would close as a mark of respect and the election was to be held on the Sunday. We of course were going to be in Bilbao - heartland of the Basque ...
