Advantages: Best collection of paintings under one roof Disadvantages: none its brilliant !
about its magnificent collection of paintings from all periods and famous artists, they number almost 9000 and make every other exhibit in the building look plain by comparison. Although you will not see the total collection as the Prado only has space to display one seventh of its total inventory.
The painting collections fall into three basic groups; paintings from the royal collections (3000+ paintings), those which were added as a result of a ‘merger’ with the Trinity Museum (under 2000 paintings) and the reserve called New Acquisitions (3500+ paintings) which is the ‘living’ section of the inventory and come from purchases, donations and legacies. Advantages: Greatest collection of Spanish Masters under one roof Disadvantages: none

Advantages: Comprehensive collection of 20th Century Spanish masters Disadvantages: Ridiculous examples of Minimal "Art"
The Museum Reina Sofia contains the most complete collection worldwide of famous 20th Century Spanish masters such as Pablo Picasso, Joan Miró and Salvador Dalí, and is worth an extensive visit when travelling to Madrid.
The Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofia, so its full name, is one of the three famous museums of fine art in Madrid, a trio which includes the MuseodelPrado and the Museo Thyssen Bornemisza.
I have discussed the Thyssen Bornemisza at length in my previous opinion, and have recommended it as an introduction to fine arts for the novice. That's because its collection of Impressionism and Expressionism is rather easy to comprehend and enjoy.
The third and most famous is the MuseodelPrado which covers the earlier periods of Renaissance, Baroque and Rokoko, and culminates in the collection of Spanish masters ...
