(+) excellent value for money, watersports included with good tuition offered (-) rooms are small and functional but how much time do you spend in your room
Advantages: a truly awesome experience Disadvantages: can I have some money for the diamond shops please
...the Tour Companies don’t! Also the ladies selling the sarongs and jewellery too do offer discounts, they are so lovely too, so do not be shy, go up and have a talk, they are the most lovely you will find. My favourite was Claudia, take her a Shirley Temple and her eyes will light up, you will find her on the beach just opposite the fantasy pool and pool bar.
She is so lovely and will even let you take the items away for you to make your mind up, don’t worry you can pay her another day.
Antigua then is a wonderful island, 108 square miles in total, and ruled by us Brits until 1981 when they claimed their independence – quite rightly so. The British influence is still strong – from the place names to the driving on the left. StJohn’s is a safe enough city where you can browse around at your leisure. Go check out the diamond shops...

Advantages: escapism & peace & tranquility Disadvantages: Very Quiet not suited for kids
...the beaches so your drinks supply is never ending. A must to try is the local WADADLI Lager, but just go easy on the rum punches.
Our wedding was organised in the UK before we went, but the staff at St.James especially Susanna & Monifa were very helpful in every way possible & our wedding day was out of this world & a dream come true.many many thanks.
There are quite a few places to visit & we found that if six or more people share a taxi it is cheaper. A visit to Shirley Heights is a must, especially Sunday Nights as there are Steel Bands, Reggae & a barbecue. The views are stunning & the atmosphere terrific although the locals selling their wares can be a little demanding at times.A tip- don't say maybe later, a firm no is better!
St.Johns is full of shops with lots of local culture & there is also a market.
Nelsons Dockyard is great...

Advantages: Beaches are georgous; plenty to do; friendly locals Disadvantages: Avoid hurricane season, sand flies and mosquitos
...Apparently Antigua has a beach for every day of the year - somehow I onoly got round to using the two at our resort - Allegro Pineapple.
Allegro is on the west side of the island and is within walking distance of Devils Bridge - a natural phenoninom but play safe and keep away from the edge of the water.
The locals were polite and friendly and the beach hawkers took no for an answer if you were not interested in what they were selling.
Antigua has a warm tropical climate and our main bugbear (pardon the pun) was with the sand flies and mosquitos - a good insect repellant will do well - the bottoms of the ankles seemed their favourite place to bite.
There is plenty of things to do in Antigua and to spend your holiday sitting on the beach all day is a waste.
Here are a few activities that you can get up to : Nelsons...
