clothing collections at the museum of costume

Advantages: many different displays
Disadvantages: a little pricey for what it is

this museum has a large collection of contemporary and historical dress and accessories.
it is situated in baths assembly rooms which are next to the famous royal crescent. it is easy to get to by car, bus or a walk.
there are many different displays ranging from 18th century to modern day fashion, there are many beautiful embroidered mens waistcoats from the early 1900's, there is a huge collection of shoes and corsets too as well ...
...will find somethingyou like in the collections here.
to fully enjoy everything you should allow at least 2 hours i would say the prices are £6.75 for adults, £5.75 for concessions and £4.75 for children, they also do a combined entry ticket to the roman baths as well  ... more

Beautiful Bath

Advantages: Something for everyone
Disadvantages: You need a few days to see it all

century. There are many rooms to visit showing the various stages of bathing from saunas with underfloor heating to plunge pools. There are displays of archaeological findings discovered during the excavations including the carved head of Minerva and the Gorgon’s head. Bath Abbey is a building in the Perpendicular Gothic style with a 162-foot high tower. Each of the two west front turrets is decorated with carvings of angels ascending and descending to and from heaven. There are so many windows in the Abbey that it is know locally as the lantern, because of it’s appearance from the surrounding hills during the evening service. There are any museums in Bath including the Museum of Costume, which is housed in the Assembly Rooms. It traces fashion and dress from the Tudor times right up to modern day. Mind you its a bit strange ...

Splish splash I was taking a Bath

Advantages: Lots to see and do
Disadvantages: Not enough time there

service, when it is dark and all the lights in the Abbey are switched on. There are many museums in Bath including the Museum of Costume, which is housed in the Assembly Rooms. This was the one that we visited as part of our tour of Bath. It traces fashion and dress from the Tudor times right up to modern day. Mind you its a bit strange seeing an outfit in a museum that you actually wore yourself! Other museums include the Postal Museum, the Book Museum, the Building of Bath Museum, the Holbourne Museum and the Victoria Art Gallery and Museum. I won’t say anything about these museums here as we did not have the free time to be able to go in any of them, but we hope to put this right when we revisit Bath. The architecture of Bath is Georgian splendour at it’s best and nowhere more so than The Crescent. It was built by John Wood ...

Nice but crowded

Advantages: Nice architecture, lots to see and do
Disadvantages: Crowded

ensuring that everyone routinely dips their hand in as they go past. The Pump Rooms are where everyone wants to go and eat, therefore they know they can charge what they like, and do. The setting is lovely but value for money isn’t great and you often have to queue for a table. You can, however, ‘take the waters’ for about a quid, which tastes disgusting and will do you no good at all but at least you can say you’ve done it. Having studied 18th Century culture and society in the final year of my degree, I loved No 1 Royal Crescent, a house furnished as it might have been in the Georgian era. The beautiful Museum of Costume was my favourite Bath attraction, but it’s safe to say that it’s not one for the blokes. The best thing about Bath is that there is always something to do and something to see. Having catered for tourists in a big way ...
