PLACES OF INTEREST IN MUSSORIE
Gun Hill - Gun Hill is the second highest point in Mussoorie and offers the best view of the valley below. The ropeway ride from the Mall to this hill (Rs 25) is sheer exhilaration. A bird's eye-view of Mussoorie town, Doon Valley and the Bunderpunch, Srikantha, Pithwara and Gangotri group of the Himalayas can be seen from here. One can also approach Gun Hill from a pathway, which forks off from the Mall Road near Kutchery. It takes about 20 - 30 minutes to reach the top. The first time i went there, the entire range was covered by mist and thick dense fog, making visiblity impossible, but magically after an hours wait, it began to clear and WOw what a view! it was well worth the wait....just as quickly it began to get cloudy and misty once again, so it is better to visit Mussorie during summer months(March-May).....
Kempty Falls - On the Yamunotri Road, 18 km from Mussoorie town, Kempty Falls is one of the most frequented spots. It is a lovely picnic spot. There is a Camp Himalayan Adventure, Kempty Fall, Mussoorie, Uttaranchal, which is situated 5 kms from Mussorie, if one is interested, not too bad....takes care of accomadation and food(vegetarian) and other activities
The other places of interest....An ancient temple called Nag Devta Temple, about 7 kms from Mussorie , offering a lovely view....
One can take a horse to the highest peak of Mussoorie near Lal Tibba. Only about 5 km from Mussoorie, you could even take a leisurely walk up to the top. The breath-taking view from up here is worth the climb.
Camel's Back Road - Shaped like the back of a camel, this road stretches from Kulri Bazaar near the Rink Hall to Library Bazaar at Mussorie, A sretch of 3 km ....horse ride on this road, especially at sunset, is an experience in itself.
Shopping is nothing great at Mussorie, but the locally made handicrafts are good and well worth the price. The hand knitted cardigans and semi precious stones and ornaments are good...There items of wood carvings, the prices are affordable, if one has the patience to bargain ....

Mussoorie also called the Queen of Hills can be anybody's dream destination and so was mine. The sizzling experience starts when we view and experience its altitude location of 6600 feet. The heart stops when we see the Doon valley in the south and the snow clad Himalayas in the north east from Mussoorie. This beautiful hillstation has got the varied collection of Flora and fauna with Cedrus deodara being the main attraction. Cedrus deodara resembles very much to our Christmas tree in appearance. Weather at Mussoorie keeps on changing throughout the day. There is a saying in India which says 'You can never predict when the Fashion of Mumbai, Girl of Delhi and Climate of Mussorie will change'. Before I narrate my travel experience of Mussoorie, let me give its background in terms of history, location, my hotel stay and a glimpse ...
