My in-laws live abroad (I know - lucky me) so I'm a seasoned Internet trawler when it comes to finding the best value flights. Lordy Lord did I get it wrong this year!!
I spend considerable time looking for the best bargain and use several websites as standard which I compare daily, as well as looking for new sites to try. I thought I'd got a good deal this year, opting for My Travel flights via the cheapestflights website. It started off badly when it transpired that My Travel had loaded it's arrival times incorrectly onto all the travel agents' websites. Your confirmation read one date and not until the tickets arrvied did it become clear that you were actually coming home the following day.
The flaw of waiting till the last minute to book is that there's little you can do to get out of the arrangement as you don't have time. I was very restricted with dates this year and it mattered a lot whether we arrived back in the UK on the Friday or the Saturday (due to pre-arranged commitments on Saturday involving yet more travelling). I chose the My Travel flight and paid extra for it as it claimed to be a Friday arrival. This transpired to be incorrect and as a result I spent 40 hours awake on Saturday (long story). My Travel's attitude is total disinterest. What a surprise.
So for the flight itself. Horrendous! I don't expect luxury on low cost airlines, but I've never been on such a cramped aeroplane in my life. I'm amazed it was legal. I'll admit it may have appeared worse as I was pregnant, but at 20 weeks there's not really that much extra of you taking up space and it doesn't affect leg room. I was lucky enough on both outbound and return journeys to be the only passenger to be given the token onboard cushion (both night flights - no pillows or blankets) to put behind my back, which helped a little. (Thank you to the crew - My Travel's only saving grace). However the legroom situation was shockingly bad and if My Travel don't find themselves the centre of a load of DVT lawsuits, I'll be amazed.
The return flight was delayed which once onboard we found out to have been due to a computer malfunction. I'm not complaining - a 2 hour delay isn't too bad. What WAS annoying was that we had to stop in Belgium on the way back because we'd run out of fuel. WHAT!!?? It was a 4 hour flight from Crete - how hard can it be to calculate (I come from an airforce family - I know it's not that tricky!!).
I've travelled a lot, on many different airlines and I know what i'm talking about. I will NEVER travel on a My Travel flight again - it was uncomfortable, disorganised and not even that cheap to make up for it. Monarch and First Choice are suddenly becoming so much more appealing! The service of the onboard crew is the only redeeming feature that saved this review from getting a Very Poor rating. If it hadn't been for their helpfulness, it would have received the lowest rating.

Thanks for this review. Although I have not travelled on MyTravel I have been on board some of their planes and I agree that they are far from spacious. Certainly some very helpful information to help any prospective passenger. Well done. Chris :o)
